National Conference on Student Leadership NCSL is the premier student leadership conference, equipping students with values-based, purpose-driven leadership skills for positive change. (Schmitz, Paul.

At heart, our programming is based on the Social Change Model of Leadership (Komives and Wagner) in which leadership is defined as "a dynamic, collaborative, values-based process grounded in relationships and intending positive social change." These values include: citizenship, common purpose, collaboration, controversy with civility, consciousness of self, congruence, and commitment. And we love

Public Allies' definition of leadership:

1. Leadership is a process in which many can engage, not a position that only a few can hold.
2. Leadership is about taking personal and social responsibility for working with others to achieve common goals.
