You are invited to join us for an Earth Day cleanup around the UW HSLC! There is no need to bring any supplies, just yourself and any other friends/ family that would like to join in on the fun! We will also update this page if there is any change in plans due to weather.
Thank you all for your interest in joining MS4SF, UW Health, and UW Sustainability to clean up the UW Health campus and Howard Temin Lakeshore Path areas. Do you enjoy spending time outdoors? Are you saddened to see trash on the side of the road? Did you attend a lecture on climate change and learn the consequences for patient health? If you answered yes to any, all, or none of the previous questions, I have an event for you!
The Medical Students for a Sustainable Future (MS4SF) at UW SMPH are teaming up with UW Health and UW Sustainability to organize a Lakeshore Path Clean Up on Friday, April 22nd, from 9am-11am during Earth Week 2022! The goal of our event is to make the UW Health campus and Lakeshore Path a cleaner, healthier space and to connect members of the UW community that are passionate about environmental health! This opportunity is low commitment and does not require you to stay for the whole time -- just stop by and help for as long as you like. Please see the attached flyer for more details!

In order to help promote the health our our patients, we need to take a critical look at how we can create health care systems that are truly sustainable for the future.
More Than 40 Nations Pledge to Cut Emissions From Their Health Industries The plans, while short on specifics, represent a notable step toward cutting greenhouse gas emissions from hospitals and the health care industry, a sizable emitter globally.

Just a quick reminder to stop by the atrium today at noon to help create some art with MS4SF. It’s a great way to de-stress and also remember that talk about climate change is happening right now at the COP26 Climate Change Summit.
See you today at noon!
On Tuesday at noon, MS4SF will be having an art event in the atrium. We will be repurposing vial caps (that would otherwise go to waste) to create an art piece for the school. It will be a fun way to de-stress from the week. Please feel free to stop by our table for a few minutes before or after class to help with this project!
