The Native American Student Association would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who joined us for this year’s Madison College Powwow.

Because of our dancers, singers, drum groups, vendors, volunteers, college partners, families, students, and community members, we were able to celebrate another successful powwow together.

This gathering continues to hold a special place in our hearts. It is more than an event — it is a space for community, connection, culture, and coming together. We are grateful to everyone who helped carry this tradition forward and made the day meaningful.

Thank you for showing up, supporting our students, and being in community with us. ❤️🖤🤍💛

Another opportunity to check out Bad River! Tuesday 11/19 at Madison College Truax Campus, D1630. Start time: 6pm

Join us for a powerful film screening event hosted by the Native American Student Association (NASA) and College Engagement and Belonging. BAD RIVER is an impactful documentary exploring the life, struggles, and resilience of the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. This film delves into the environmental challenges facing the tribe’s ancestral lands and waterways, the critical role of traditional ecological knowledge, and the community's fight to protect their rights, culture, and natural resources.

Following the screening, Indigenous leaders, students, and environmental advocates will lead a panel discussion to foster dialogue on Indigenous rights, environmental justice, and the importance of supporting Native communities in protecting their lands. Whether you are interested in environmental justice, Indigenous issues, or learning more about Wisconsin's local tribes, this event will be enlightening and inspiring.

Today, the Native American Student Association of Madison College honors the courage, commitment, and sacrifices of Native American veterans who have served our nation. With more than 140,000 Native American and Alaska Native veterans, Native Americans are known to serve at a rate five times greater than any other group.

From Earth to the stars, Native American servicemembers have made remarkable contributions to our nation and our missions. Their resilience and dedication inspire us daily. Thank you for your unwavering commitment and strength and for the powerful example you set for future generations, inspiring hope and a brighter future.

This Veterans Day, we stand together in respect and gratitude.
