This popped up as a memory. The timing was definitely relevant to yesterday's after class discussion. IYKYK

Shortly after beginning yesterday's course:
Participant: "This doesn't work, this isn't how someone is going to attack you. I've been attacked and what you are showing doesn't work!"
Me: "I'm going to ask you to do something that's going to be very hard for you to do, ... and that's to trust me."
After her initial statement, the class gathered to hear about her experience of being attacked. She was convinced that what we were doing in class was nothing more than a 'feel good' presentation of self defense training just like all the other courses.
After several minutes of explaining and demonstrating the "how and why" of what we do I ended the conversation with asking her to trust me.
I've spent years talking, interviewing, and responding to crimes of domestic violence, assaults, sexual assaults, and attempted murders. I have a good handle on the reality of violence. I KNOW how it works and what it takes to counter it.
After yesterday's 3 hour course was over she left this review. This is a review from someone who was very skeptical about our training. Someone who had experienced violence and could recognize "bull$hit" in a heartbeat.
We prepare men, women, and children for what could possibly be the worse day of their life. We provide options, expand their mind for critical thinking, and get them in shape while doing so.
I was very fortunate to have her in my class yesterday because I was able to make a believer out of a non-believer. Self defense training is more than just a business for me. It's a passion and I put all of my sweat, blood, and tears into helping others become safer, confident people.
