Country School is seeking to fill the following positions:

A dedicated and energetic School Van Driver to safely transport students weekday mornings. The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent driving skills, a strong commitment to safety, and a positive attitude. The driver is required to have a valid driver’s license with appropriate "V" endorsement. Training available if candidate is interested but lacks that designation. Experience working with children preferred.

An after-school Owl's Nest Teacher who holds a minimum of a high school degree. The successful candidate is responsible, confident, and fun-loving, and enjoys working with children ages 3 - 11.

Coding campers spent the week building real skills before building real games. They practiced sequencing and algorithms unplugged, first with cups and cards, working out step-by-step logic on whiteboards. Then they moved to the screen, using Code.org's Sprite Lab to code loops, conditionals, and variables into their own games, complete with sprites, scoring, and lives. By the end of camp, they had games with names like "The Chase," "The Eater," and "The Collector" to show for it.

Connecticut just changed the rules on kindergarten age cutoffs. If your child's birthday falls after September 1, you might be wondering what that means for them.

Here's the thing: that rule is about public schools. It isn't how we decide readiness at Country School.

Our Admission Director Pam Glasser says it best: "A birthday is arbitrary. It tells you nothing about whether a child is ready for kindergarten. We assess the child in front of us." Small classes allow our teachers to see exactly where each child stands, not where a calendar says they should be.

Country School builds world for each student, so they can take on the world. That means readiness is a conversation we have with you, not a date imposed on your family.

Our Children's Garden is flourishing this summer, thanks to our volunteers - current parents, past parents, and teachers. These goodies were delivered to Branford Community Dining Room where diners will be feasting on ratatouille made with some of our harvest.

Coo-ology campers spent the week outdoors, not at a lab table. They combed tide pools with nets, tracked marsh trails in their backpacks, and hiked wooded boardwalks to see what science looks like outside the classroom. Adventure was the curriculum.
