Rainbow family: I will be out tomorrow through break for a shoulder surgery. Nurse Laura (one of the best school nurses I know) and some fabulous sub nurses will be in my clinic to keep things running smoothly. I will still be somewhat available via email. Wishing you all a blessed holiday season.

Stories from your school's clinic infectious disease addition: Strep, walking pneumonia and Flu A are going around the student body. Strep with atypical symptoms, walking pneumonia and flu with similar symptoms aside from the flu seems to have a worse headache. When in doubt if your kiddo is sick keep them home and take them to their pediatrician or P*P for testing. All of these, though common illnesses, can be very serious for some children if left untreated. Have an awesome and blessed rest of the week ❤️❤️

I posted this to my personal FB page but wanted to hear as well:

Parents of my Rainbow Elementary students ....every year in the days leading up to Thanksgiving I start thinking on all the things I'm grateful for in my life. Today sitting in my clinic it was our Rainbow students. Rainbow Ele families you are raising some terrific children. They are such quality tiny humans. They are smart, hilarious, caring and the vast majority so kind hearted and polite that it would make you proud. I see them struggle and prevail through difficult health issues and tragedies in life. I see them be kind to others and be brave during their own asversities and through pain. Some students I see daily so I get to talk to them quite a bit, more than anything I hear how much these children love their families. The fact they speak on these things is a testiment not just to who they are as kids but to who you are as parents. I'm blessed to be a part of your and their journeys.

I'm so blessed to be and to have been a part of the journeys of my diabetic students. They have enriched my life in more ways than I can put into words.

Illnesses being reported to me by our RES families this week to keep an eye out for...walking pneumonia, fifths disease and the ever present strep throat.

Rainbow family....be on the lookout for a "stomach bug" that seems to be going around RES. Seems to hit pretty quickly with a stomach ache and vomiting, thankfully from what families are telling me it doesn't last long. Remember MCS has the 24 hour rule, students need to be fever free and free of vomiting and diarrhea without the aid of meds before they can return to school.
