Summer 2026 is officially in the books, which means we’re so back! Here's a quick debrief of what Shabazz staff were up to over break:
Three of us went to Washington (NOT together). Two went to Florida (also NOT together). Two took a 90-hour train ride (actually together). Someone went surfing right here in Wisconsin 🏄‍♂️. Someone else became an empty nester. One of us made it to Boston (pronounced BAW-stin). Someone GRADUATED with a master's degree in education 🥳🎓. One person taught their little one how to ride a bike 🚲. Someone somehow lost TWO teeth. Someone had a surprise skull mailed to their house (by another staff member) 💀
One of us ended up with "scooter blood" (we asked; they refused to elaborate; zero context provided). And someone else had a pocket full of rocks. Everyone else wisely chose to spend their time getting some R&R & hanging out with their families. We’re rested, reunited, and ready for the new school year! 🍎✨

Construction update! 🏗

06/18/2026

Last week, the classes of 2026 for Malcolm Shabazz City High School, Capital High School, and Innovative High School crossed the stage at the Mitby Theater and boldly took a step towards a new stage in life.

During three unique ceremonies involving touching performances and powerful words from students, faculty, and guest speakers, we honored the growth, connections, and accomplishments of the graduating class, closing one chapter in their lives and proudly flipping the page to the next.

Congratulations, Shabazz, Innovative, and Capital Graduates! Your perseverance and commitment towards growing and succeeding in this challenging stage of life is something to be proud of. We can’t wait to see what’s next for you!

🎓🌟Senior Spotlight: Emily Corsi Finds Community Through Creativity at Shabazz

In Emily Corsi’s opinion, the best part of Shabazz City High School is simple: people know each other.

“You can’t really walk around the school without seeing someone you know or saying hi to a friend,” Corsi said.

At Shabazz, Corsi participated in several school poetry showcases, helped organize performances and even developed and taught a lesson about her own writing process.
