The Wendell Lake, MD / Aaron Suminski, PhD lab was well represented at the 2026 Biennial Meeting of the American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery in Cleveland, Ohio.
The group contributed four research presentations, including a podium presentation by Dr. Cuong Luu. His work demonstrated widespread changes in brain structure associated with long-term medical therapy for Parkinson's disease, helping researchers better understand how to minimize treatment-related side effects.
Jordan Ranum, a fourth-year medical student at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, and Aayush Goud, a postbaccalaureate researcher, presented research examining how deep brain stimulation (DBS) lead placement influences treatment outcomes in both subthalamic nucleus (STN) and ventral intermediate nucleus (VIM) DBS procedures.
The meeting also featured recently published work by Dr. Jennifer Perrault exploring a non-invasive trigeminal nerve stimulation technique with potential applications in rehabilitation following stroke and traumatic brain injury.
We are proud of the team's contributions and their continued efforts to advance research in functional neurosurgery.
