Learning, discussion, and a little fun outside the classroom! 🧠📚

Our residents recently gathered for journal club in Dr. Mohamed Zaazoue’s house, diving into the latest spine deformity research and discussing studies that are shaping how we think about spine alignment. The evening also included Middle Eastern food, music, and conversation by the pool — a great opportunity to learn, connect, and enjoy time together outside the hospital.

🧠 Celebrating Excellence in Neurosurgery Research!

Congratulations to Azam Ahmed, MD, associate professor of neurological surgery, who was part of a team awarded a U.S. patent for “SHIELD” by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in July.

This recognition highlights the innovative research taking place at the UW–Madison School of Medicine and Public Health and the important work of our faculty in advancing patient care and neuroscience. 👏

Dr. Laura McGuire recently attended the UW Practical Imaging and Intervention Conference, hosted by UW Radiology in Kenai, Alaska, where she presented “Middle Meningeal Artery Embolization: Techniques and Update on the Evidence.”

Max Brunner and Stephanie Wilbrand attended the NCURA conference (National Council of University Research Administrators). This conference provided many opportunities to gain knowledge about the newest updates in the field and healthcare regulations, as well as upcoming changes, especially on the federal level. Stephanie Wilbrand presented several sessions on clinical trials including a podcast.
