Today, we honor the nearly 3,000 people who died on September 11, 2001. We also honor and salute the brave first responders and civilians who responded to the call for help, including the U.S. Coast Guard and Auxiliary, and our other military members who lost their lives in service to our country in the 20 years since.

Please take time to reflect today about this tragic event and the resilience of the American people. 🇺🇸

Why should you take the time to prepare a ? The answer is simple, there are just too many facts that need to be accurately remembered and conveyed in an emergency situation. Without a float plan you are counting on a friend, neighbor, or family member to remember detailed information that rescue personnel need in order to find you. Information that can make a difference in the outcome.

Proud to shake the hand of Commodore Richard McConnell, who joined the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary in 1964 and has accumulated 57 years of service!

The Commodore is a U. S. Coast Guard Sector New Orleans legend! He maintains boat crew, aircrew, and air observer qualifications, and it is believed that Commodore McConnell likely has more flight time in New Orleans than any active duty or retired Coast Guard pilots. Thank you for your years of tireless service and dedication to duty to the U.S. Coast Guard! You, like many of your Auxiliary shipmates, are a true force multiplier, and we are proud to have you on our team!

HAPPY 82nd ANNIVERSARY U.S. COAST GUARD AUXILIARY!

For the past 82 years, the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary has served our nation, selflessly volunteering to contribute to the safety and security of our citizens, ports, waterways and coastal regions. Our main goal is recreational boating safety and education, while acting as the foremost force multiplier in support of various Coast Guard authorized missions.

The past twelve months have presented us with challenges and comradery, and we have persevered! Our volunteerism continues to be generous and our bonds are strong, anchored in the core values of Honor, Respect and Devotion to Duty.

Thank you to all our dedicated members for the services you perform and the time you selflessly contribute.

And thank you for sharing this year's Auxiliary Anniversary celebration. We look forward to the next twelve months with optimism and energy!
