Think Spring!

Children's book characters have always been a natural fit in the wild world (think: The Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, The Secret Garden, Where the Wild Things Are), but 2020 has brought with it a storm of gentle, thoughtful, sharp, and fantastical…

With sadness I am sharing that we are unable to run our Growing Places TimberNook Summer Camp for the summer of 2020. As many of you know we have had two Providers that are in the woods with your children during the summer months, but work as teachers during the school year. Ashley moved on from Growing Places in September and after Sarah gave 6 years as a Provider she has opted to stay in the classroom this coming summer.
With a very real workforce shortage we were unable to hire a new Provider that would pull the passion, dedication and TimberNook wonder to the job that we believe is required to make sure each and every one of your children leaves muddy and fulfilled. We did not come to this decision lightly and apologize for not being able to provide this experience to your children this summer. We are 100% committed to coming back Summer 2021.
Although we are not running TimberNook, Growing Places does run a more traditional summer camp called Camp Cowabunga. We have a new Program Director that comes with a wealth of experience working with the YMCA and different summer camps. She is looking forward to introducing different camp experiences, utilizing the woods at the sugar shack, bringing the children to the Durham pool, and allowing each camper to grow in themselves through hands on learning. If you would like more information about Camp Cowabunga please reach out to Caitlin Sullivan at [email protected]
