Great night at the 19th Annual Blue and Gold Gala in Atlanta supporting Georgia FFA 💙💛

From scholarships to leadership opportunities, this event helps invest in over 80,000 FFA members across our state, and it’s always special to be a part of that impact.

Thank you to Mr. Roland for the invitation and to Representative Herring for joining us. She is a strong supporter of Ag and education, which are at the heart of what we do and how we serve our community.

Commissioner Harper served as MC for the evening, and it was great to see our own representing Georgia so well as FFA State President.

Proud to support the future of agriculture and the next generation of leaders 🌾

What a great day at the Capitol!

The Bibb County Young Farmer and Rutland High FFA program had the honor of being recognized in the House chamber by Rep. Tangie Herring. It was a proud moment for our students and community as we were acknowledged for the work happening in agricultural education right here in Bibb County.

We had the opportunity to connect with several state leaders, including Speaker Jon Burns, Representative Robert Dickey (Chairman, Agriculture & Consumer Affairs), Rep. Floyd Griffin, and many others who took time to encourage and support our students.

A special highlight of the day was having three of our students serve as pages for Representative Herring, an unforgettable hands-on experience in state government!

We were also honored to meet Georgia’s Agriculture Commissioner, Tyler Harper, as he presented the Ag Week Proclamation, celebrating the importance of agriculture across our state.

To finish it off, we visited the Senate chamber where we had the chance to meet Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones, along with Senator Steven McNeal and Senator David Lucas.

Experiences like this give our students a deeper understanding of leadership, service, and the impact of agriculture in Georgia. We are grateful for the opportunity and proud of the way our students represented Bibb County!

What a great few days representing Bibb County Young Farmers at the Georgia State Capitol for Georgia Young Farmer Day and GACTE Day!

We had the opportunity to spend time at the Capitol meeting with leaders who support agriculture and agricultural education across our state. It was a great chance to share about the impact of agriculture in Bibb County and the important role CTAE and agricultural education programs play in preparing the next generation of farmers and industry leaders.

During our visit, we were honored to meet with Governor Brian Kemp, Speaker Jon Burns, State School Superintendent Richard Woods, Rep. Tangie Herring, Rep. Robert Dickey, Rep. Dale Washburn, Sen. Steven McNeel, and State CTAE Director Barbara Wall. We appreciate them taking the time to talk with us and for their continued support of agriculture and education in Georgia.

The trip also gave us the chance to spend time with fellow agriculture supporters from across the state, take in the historic Capitol, and proudly represent Bibb County agriculture.

Thankful for the opportunity to share the story of agriculture in our community and advocate for the farmers, students, and programs that make it possible.

In Rutland High School’s agriculture education program, students do everything from growing plants in the greenhouse to carving detailed wooden plaques with a computerized cutter.

The school partners with local farms to house and care for dairy cows that are shown off at the Georgia National Fair. There’s a coop nearby with goats and several varieties of chicken.

Students have ample time to get their hands dirty in the Bibb County School District’s agriculture program, but their education will continue after they graduate thanks to the new chapter of the Young Farmer Program.
