Jalin Clark joined our Ubuntu Summer Program as support staff, ready to serve wherever he was needed. By the end of the summer, he had stepped up to lead our 4th–6th grade scholars demonstrating initiative, consistency, and an ability to connect with and guide our young people.

This is what leadership development looks like in action: creating opportunities for people to discover their capacity, develop their voice, and rise into greater responsibility.

We don’t just develop leadership in our scholars—we develop the leaders who serve them.

Jalin didn’t just support the mission. He grew within it.

There was something special about seeing parents we’ve never seen smile, smiling,and watching the smiles of those who always do somehow shine a little brighter.

There’s a different kind of joy that fills a room when parents get to pause, look at their children, and simply be proud.

On this day, we celebrated our scholars’ accomplishments, basked in their loved ones joy, pride, and affirmation of the families who have been cheering them on every step of the way.

Their children were being celebrated, but their smiles told the story. 💚

This is Ubuntu. 🖤

At our Closing Ceremony, Leo stood before Malachi to present the affirmation he created specifically for him—a reminder that even our youngest scholars have the power to see, affirm, and celebrate one another.

This moment was bigger than a presentation. It was one young scholar saying to another: “I see you. I believe in you. You matter.”

From Pre-K through 1st grade, we’re planting the seeds of brotherhood, confidence, empathy, and community.

🐍🦎 Our scholars got WILD at the SANKOFA CONFERENCE BUFFALO

While enjoying the Sankofa Festival, our Ubuntu scholars had the opportunity to experience an exciting animal show with Nickel City Reptiles & Exotics! From getting up close with reptiles and exotic animals to asking questions and trying something new, our scholars turned the festival into another opportunity to explore, learn, and create memories together.
