From Macon to Athens, Greece! Wesleyan College's Alana Woods has been invited to present her research at the 2026 International Aphasia Rehabilitation Conference.
A rising senior triple majoring in biology, neuroscience, and psychology with a minor in chemistry, Alana's journey began during her first semester at Wesleyan, where she conducted independent research under faculty mentorship. Through hands-on research experiences with Dr. Jim Ferrari and Dr. James Rowan, she developed the scientific, analytical, and presentation skills that prepared her for advanced collaborative research opportunities.
"Wesleyan provides its students with a lot of opportunities," she said. "Being at a small college, you're not just a number. Starting my freshman year, I was already conducting independent research. At a large university, I feel like you're one of several hundred students in a class."
Join us in congratulating Alana on this outstanding achievement, and read more of her journey at:

Before officially becoming Wesleyan alumnae at Commencement, the Class of 2026 took part in one of the College’s most meaningful traditions, the Marker Ceremony and Baccalaureate celebration in Downtown Macon! 🐺🎓💜
Gathered at the historic marker commemorating Wesleyan College’s original campus site, graduates reflected on the nearly 190 years of history, sisterhood, and leadership they now carry forward as the newest members of the world’s oldest alumnae association. Then, the Class of 2026 processed to Mulberry Street Methodist Church for a beautiful Baccalaureate ceremony surrounded by family, friends, faculty, staff, and fellow Wesleyannes who came together to celebrate this milestone moment.

ICYMI: Rising sophomore Amy Charan recently published a powerful piece in The Macon Melody that explores how survivors of human trafficking are finding their voices and advocating for change in Georgia.
Amy is part of Wesleyan College’s Local Democracy Lab, where students gain real-world journalism experience and strengthen their communication skills by partnering with The Melody's staff.
We are proud to see Wesleyan students using their storytelling talents to highlight important issues impacting communities across Georgia.
