🎸 **Once a Husky, Always a Husky!** 🐾
Howard Middle School is excited to have been selected to participate in the University of Georgia’s Lead Guitar program! Each Friday, a doctoral student from UGA visits HMS to work alongside our Orchestra Director, Ms. Shurbjy, and our guitar students as they continue developing their skills and love of music.
But this morning, we discovered there is a little more to this story.
Assistant Principal Ms. Wilcher realized that the UGA doctoral student working with our Huskies is Tyler Jackson, a former Howard Middle School and Howard High School student! Even better, Ms. Wilcher taught Tyler math when he was a student here at HMS.
Talk about a full-circle moment.
Years ago, Tyler sat in our classrooms as a Howard Middle School student. Today, he is back in those classrooms as a doctoral student from the University of Georgia, sharing his knowledge and talents with another generation of Huskies.
These are the moments that remind us that what happens in our classrooms can reach far beyond the years our students spend with us. We never know where their paths will take them, or when those paths might lead them right back home.
Tyler may be a UGA Dawg now, but around here we know one thing for certain...Once a Husky, always a Husky! 🐾🎸
