In this day of technology and other changes in our lifestyles experts have seen a significant change in hand strength, a LACK of it actually. This provides some very big challenges with writing, tieing shoes, opening packages, helping clean up, etc. Here's a good list of everyday type tasks or easily accessible items to use to increase hand strength and fine motor skills. This is not just for preK but all elementary aged kids.

Summer is in Bibb County School District and with Middle Georgia Regional Library there are many ways for students to earn their 25 hours of reading this summer while enjoying fun activities, prizes, and reading challenges.
1. Visit the Library
Stop by Lanford Library, right across the street from Heard, or explore one of the many other libraries in Macon. There are exciting events happening all summer long! Visit the Middle Georgia Regional Libraries Summer Reading website for information about locations, programs, and activities:

2. Track Reading with Beanstack
Students can pick up a paper reading log at the library or log their reading minutes through the Beanstack app. All elementary students, including rising 6th graders, are already registered. Track reading, complete activities, and earn badges all summer long!

All Bibb County students have access to thousands of eBooks and audiobooks through the SORA Sweet Reads Collection in ClassLink. Read or listen, then log those minutes in Beanstack!

Summer Self-Care Leadership BINGO is in effect! The BINGO card below can help keep your child engaged in positive, healthy habits over the break!
🖨️ Print and return by August 7 or take a picture/screenshot of your completed card and send to your “new” teacher in Parent Square once the classes are set up later in July.

Encourage your child to complete a row, column, diagonal, or the whole card! When we return in the fall, students who turn in their completed card will be celebrated as Summer Leaders.
