Dr. Kara and Dr. Stephen Svonavec have made a lasting impact at Middle Georgia State University—both in and out of the classroom.

The Dublin campus isn’t just where they work—it’s where they met, fell in love, and were even married (in LIB 202!). Today, that classroom bears their name, honoring their support of the Dublin Health Sciences Expansion.

Their commitment to students goes even further. In 2018, they established a scholarship honoring two women who inspired their belief in the power of education. Since then, it has helped eight first-generation students continue their journeys.

“We always look for ways to support our campus and, more importantly, the students,” they said.

Their story is one of dedication, generosity, and heart—and we are so grateful.

Madison is pursuing her degree in Aviation and Science Management with a flight focus. Madison helped organize a Foster Fest for all the foster children in their district. They were able to provide the kids' with their wish list items and a personalized duffle bags for their belongings.

🎉 Honoring MGA’s Graduate Students! 🎓

At Middle Georgia State University, we take pride in offering a strong lineup of graduate programs—including master’s degrees in five schools and doctoral programs in IT and Public Safety & Emergency Management.

This spring, 27 doctoral graduates crossed the stage—an incredible achievement!

To celebrate, we held our annual Graduate School Reception at the Center for Middle Georgia Studies. The event brought together graduates, faculty, staff, and university leaders for an evening filled with stories, laughter, and inspiration. 💜

Special thanks to the Office of the Provost, the School of Computing, the Office of Graduate Studies, the MGA Foundation, and Robins Financial Credit Union for making this celebration possible.

As the night wrapped up, hugs were tighter, and smiles were brighter—because our graduates know: big things are ahead.

Happy Nursing Appreciation Week! As we close out the week, allow us to introduce Abigail. Abigail graduated from MGA in winter 2025. She made the Dean's list her first three semesters of nursing school and the President's list her final semester! During her senior year, she was a Nurse Extern at the Beverly Knight Olson Children's Hospital.

For more than 21 years, Dr. Manoj and Hansa Shah have quietly changed lives through education at Middle Georgia State University. 💜

Their generosity has supported more than 68 graduates from Houston County high schools attending MGA and helped launch the Dr. Manoj and Hansa Shah Study Abroad Program, which sent nine students to India this year.

We are deeply grateful for their heart, vision, and lasting impact.
