Today, students in Mrs. Whitest’s American Government class stepped into the world of lawmaking during a “Day in the Life” simulation! Students took on the roles of members of the House of Representatives, senators, and lobbyists as they debated, negotiated, and worked together to pass a bill. Who knew government could be this exciting? 📜🔥

We will recognize and honor cancer survivors, those currently battling cancer, and the loved ones we have lost with a special memory wall. Please invite survivors and those fighting cancer to join us as we come together in support, remembrance, and hope.

Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome the League of Women Voters to campus during our lunch periods! Representatives helped eligible students register to vote and encouraged them to make their voices heard through civic participation. Thank you to the League of Women Voters for empowering our students to become informed and engaged citizens! 🗳️

This past Saturday, our Beta Club members rolled up their sleeves and participated in a campus cleanup! Community service hours are an important part of Beta Club membership, and these students demonstrated leadership, responsibility, and pride in their school by helping make our campus shine.

📚✨ There has been a lot of exciting learning happening in our classrooms lately!

➗ Ms. McMath’s classes have been collaborating on station projects and argumentative group projects. In Dr. Keerthi’s class, students have explored rational equations, average rate of change, limits, midpoint, distance, and angles.

🧪 Coach Knight and Mr. Zachery’s students have been conducting physical science experiments while practicing essential science lab safety procedures.

🔎 Ms. Hyatt’s students have been sharpening their detective skills as they investigate different archetypes found in detective fiction.

🎭🎶 Our Theatre and Choir students have been writing scripts, building their performance fundamentals, learning scales and fall music, and examining the six elements of film through the popular musical Hamilton.

⏰ Coach E. Moore’s Introduction to Career students are developing valuable time-management skills by prioritizing tasks and creating weekly calendars that account for fixed and flexible commitments.

Our students are collaborating, creating, investigating, and building skills that extend far beyond the classroom. It’s always a great day to be a Hurricane! 🧡💚
