Today, we join the global Mercy family in celebrating Mercy Day.

This year’s theme, Rooted in Mercy, calls us to reflect on the roots that have nourished the Mercy tradition for generations. Nearly 200 years ago, Catherine McAuley responded to the needs of her community with faith, courage, and compassion. The mission she began continues to grow in Mercy communities here at Mount de Sales Academy and around the world.

Today, our Cavaliers gathered for Mass to celebrate that shared heritage and the responsibility we have to carry it forward.

We are rooted in a tradition that calls us to recognize the dignity of others, respond with compassion, and put our faith into action. And from those roots, we continue to grow.

Congratulations to seniors Zachary Germann, Donghyuk Lee, and Hugo Vo, who have been named Commended Scholars in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program!

Commended Scholars are recognized for their exceptional academic promise after placing among approximately the top 4% of students nationwide who entered the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Together with the two National Merit Semifinalists we celebrated last week, Mount de Sales has five National Merit-recognized students in the Class of 2027, the most recognized in a single class in school history.

For more than 150 years, Cavaliers have carried forward a tradition of academic excellence. This year, our five National Merit-recognized students have added a new milestone to that tradition.

Congratulations to all five Cavaliers on your outstanding academic achievement!
