📣 FTE COUNT IS UNDERWAY! 📣

During our FTE Count, we’re making sure that EVERY Eagle is accounted for and that our attendance is reported accurately! 🦅💙💛

Now, our teachers get so enthralled in delivering rigorous, engaging instruction, and sometimes they’re so excited to get the day started, that attendance might just slip their minds. 🤭😂

But don’t worry…WE REMIND THEM! 📞🤣

Because when it comes to attendance at Bruce, we don’t just call parents…

SOMETIMES WE HAVE TO CALL THE TEACHERS TOO! 🤣☎️👩🏽‍🏫👨🏽‍🏫

Bruce Families, we need your help! 💙💛 Our October PBIS Celebration is coming up, and we’re asking our wonderful families to help us add a little extra SWEETNESS to the fun! 🎉🦅

We are accepting donations of individually wrapped candy to use during our celebration.

Every bag, big or small, will help us celebrate our Eagles who are working hard to SOAR and demonstrate positive behavior! 🌟

When an Eagle is missing, we notice! Your teachers are working hard to prepare rigorous, engaging, and meaningful instruction for you each day, and we need you IN THE NEST to receive it! 📚✏️✨

For September 21st - 25th, our Bruce Eagles are focusing on COURTESY: well-mannered conduct which results in polite treatment of others. 🤝🏾💙

Courtesy can be as simple as saying “please” and “thank you,” using kind words, listening when others speak, including others, and showing respect to everyone. Eagles, young and not so young, let’s be INTENTIONAL about showing courtesy throughout The Eagles’ Nest this week!

Remember: Kind words cost nothing, but they can mean EVERYTHING! 💛

If you follow our socials, you KNOW we have a GREAT time in The Nest! 😂💙💛 But just know… we’re working hard, too!

Our Eagles, young and not as young 🫣, live Habit 3 of Leader in Me: Put First Things First! Around The Nest, we like to say: WORK HARD, then PLAY! 💪🏽📚🎉

And here’s a shining example brought to you by Ms. Stripling’s 5th Grade Science Classes! 🧪🔬

Our Eagle scientists took learning off the page and into their hands as they explored animal classification and body structures. Then they took their learning target one step further by getting up close and personal with some REAL examples! 👀🔍

🪱 Earthworm — Invertebrate with no skeleton
🐟 Fish — Vertebrate with an endoskeleton (skeleton inside the body)
🦞 Crawfish — Invertebrate with an exoskeleton (skeleton outside the body)

Our scientists were able to observe, compare, investigate, and make connections between an animal’s structure, support, movement, and classification.

And YES…there were PLENTY of “Ewww!” moments quickly followed by “Wait…let me see!” 😂😂

And THAT is exactly what we want…curiosity turning into learning! 💡

Our Eagles had an AMAZING time with hands-on science, and this is what Lab Day is all about: giving our students opportunities to EXPERIENCE the science they’re learning! 🧤🔬

Because in The Eagle’s Nest, our students don’t just READ about science…

THEY DO SCIENCE! 🧪🦅💙💛

💙💛 OUR COMMUNITY PARTNERS ARE THE ABSOLUTE BEST! 💛💙

There truly are not enough words to express how grateful we are for the incredible community that continues to surround and support our Bruce Eagles! 🦅

Yesterday, The Darby & Munroe Private Family Foundation, the 100 Black Men of Macon and Middle Georgia, Macedonia Baptist Church, Bibb County BOE Campus Police, and several of our amazing Bruce staff members came together for a very special mission…making sure some of our hardworking Eagles have a comfortable place to rest, recharge, and get a great night’s sleep. 🛏️💙

Our partners rolled up their sleeves, assembled beds, and helped provide beds for six Bruce families, delivering to four families, and making arrangements for two additional families to pick theirs up.

But they didn’t stop there! 💛 They came back today assembled and delivered two more beds! And when furniture donations became available overnight for another family in need, our partners stepped right back in to make sure those items were received and delivered as well.

THAT is what community looks like!!!❤️

Our partners don’t simply say they support our students, they continually show up, step in, give generously, and meet real needs! Their investment in our Eagles extends far beyond the walls of our school, and the impact they are making in the lives of our students and families is immeasurable.

To each organization, every volunteer, and every Bruce staff member who gave their time, resources, muscles, transportation, and most importantly, their hearts 🫶🏾THANK YOU! 🦅💙💛

Because of your continued love and support, our Eagles have one more reason to rest well, wake up ready to learn, and continue SOARING TO GREATER HEIGHTS! 🦅✨
