U.S. News & World Report has released its 2027 Best Colleges rankings, and Wesleyan earned three distinctions:

🏆 #5 Regional Colleges (South)
🏆 #4 Top Private Schools – Regional Colleges (South)
🏆 #13 Social Mobility – Regional Colleges (South)

For the second year in a row, Wesleyan ranks among the Top 5 Regional Colleges in the South. And, for the first time, Wesleyan is ranked #4 among private regional colleges in the South.
But there’s much more behind those rankings.

For nearly two centuries, accelerating equality for women has been part of Wesleyan’s story. Generations of Wesleyannes have believed in this College, invested in the women who came after them and helped create the opportunities our students have today.

Congratulations to Dr. Robyn Gobin ’06, who was recently recognized by the American Psychological Association’s Committee on Women in Psychology (CWP) as a 2026 Emerging Leader!

Presented during the American Psychological Association Convention in Washington, D.C., the honor recognizes Dr. Gobin’s leadership and service in psychology. Her work has centered on the health, healing and self-care of Black women, culturally responsive approaches to trauma, mentorship and expanding the impact of psychological research beyond academic and clinical spaces through books, podcasts and trainings.

The Committee on Women in Psychology shared that Dr. Gobin “exemplifies the vision and promise of an emerging leader in psychology.”

Congratulations, Robyn! Your Wesleyan sisters are cheering you on!

Dr. David Berri, professor of economics at Southern Utah University and longtime sports economics researcher, will take a closer look at the extraordinary growth of women’s sports and the barriers that still remain.

This fall, Wesleyan is bringing the first women’s college hockey team to Middle Georgia, and on Sunday, September 27th, our student-athletes will take the ice at the Macon Coliseum for the College’s first-ever hockey exhibition game.

Come cheer on Wesleyan as we face the Georgia Southern Eagles and celebrate another first in our nearly 190-year history!

As part of Wesleyan’s Student Convocation Series, students will hear from Dr. David Berri for “Slaying the Trolls! How Women’s Sports Continue to Prove Its Critics Wrong!” And we’re pleased to open this virtual program to our alumnae community, too!
Dr. Berri, a professor of economics at Southern Utah University and longtime sports economics researcher, will explore the remarkable rise of women’s sports, how women athletes have continued to prove their critics wrong, and the challenges that remain, including pay disparities, market valuation and ongoing criticism of women in sports.

It’s a timely conversation about women, opportunity and challenging expectations - something the Wesleyan community knows a little about.

As Wesleyan approaches its 190th anniversary, we're celebrating a record $23.56 million raised in a single year and our largest incoming class since 2011.

Those milestones tell a story of confidence in Wesleyan's future, but they also tell a story of the generations who made this moment possible.

For alumna and donor Betsy Bunte ’68, that connection is deeply personal.

“At this moment in time, I see a unique combination of tradition and innovation,” she shared. “Tradition is still there, but so is cutting-edge innovation.”

And her reason for continuing to support Wesleyan is even simpler: “I choose to give back to Wesleyan because she gave so much to me.”

To every Wesleyan alumna who has given, encouraged, mentored, volunteered, shared our story or simply continued believing in this College: you are part of this momentum! Thank you for helping Wesleyan continue opening doors for the women who will follow.

While in North Carolina, Greg enjoyed lunch and a wonderful conversation with Laura and Leo Montgomery. They spent time catching up on mutual friends and discussing all the exciting things happening at Wesleyan.

Devin Harris Cecere ’04 recently joined Susan Allen for breakfast and a wonderful visit in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. During their time together, Devin reflected on the path that began with an internship while she was a student at Wesleyan College and how that ultimately led her to the University of Pittsburgh, where she earned her master’s degree in public administration, and to a meaningful career in nonprofit management. Today, Devin serves as Program Assistant for The Grable Foundation in Pittsburgh, continuing a career centered on making a difference in her community!

During a recent trip to Cleveland, Ohio, Susan Allen had the opportunity to visit with Dr. Joy Tang and her husband, Anthony Kroestch. Joy reflected on coming to Wesleyan from China in 2005 and the scholarship opportunities that made her Wesleyan education possible. After studying psychology at Wesleyan, she continued her journey in higher education and now serves as an associate professor of psychology at Youngstown State University. She remains proud of her Wesleyan roots and grateful for the opportunities her alma mater provided.
