Today is a beautiful day to celebrate freedom, honor the incredible resilience and history of Black culture, and reflect on the ongoing journey toward true equality and community empowerment.
Whether you are taking today to rest, connecting with family, or participating in community celebrations, we hope your day is filled with joy, reflection, and pride. Happy Juneteenth from the members of Macon Alumnae.
Happy !
Today we honor the legacy of the last enslaved African Americans in Texas who were finally informed of their freedom, some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. It was those people, and the generations of Texans who came after them, who made the bold declaration to celebrate this day, marking a reality we know far too well in this country: freedom may be delayed, but it will never be denied.
Though our fight for freedom sadly continues, today we pause to celebrate and embrace the joy of our ancestors who believed in the possibilities of a more promising tomorrow. And in that joy, we remain anchored, steadfast in our pursuit of true freedom and justice for all.

For in their courage, we find a seed,
Of hope, of change, of a united creed.
In their footsteps, we learn to tread,
A path of respect, where once we fled.
So let us say with pride and grace,
To those once hidden, now face to face,
"Thank you for your service," deep and true,
For a better world, shaped by you.

Then I heard a voice from heaven saying to me, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on." “Yes,” says the Spirit, "that they may rest from their labors, for their works follow them.”
