Please see below the details for Bob Waller's funeral mass next Friday, June 12. All are welcome to celebrate his life at Sacred Heart Catholic Church afterward.

We're delighted to welcome the newest class of graduates into our alumni! Forever de Sales!

To the MDS Class of 2026, this day marks the end of a beautiful chapter in your lives and also the start of something new.

From the Prayer of St. Francis de Sales comes this excerpt:

"Do not fear what may happen tomorrow;
the same everlasting Father who cares for you today
will take care of you then and every day.
He will either shield you from suffering, or give you unfailing strength to bear it.
Be at peace, and put aside all anxious thoughts and imagination."

Jr. Beta has been wonderful this year, serving others with humbleness and kindness. When one of our fellow alumni made a call for help, the Cavaliers answered! Isabelle Burns, class of 2022, organized a “dyslexia-friendly” book drive, accepting donations of books to the dyslexic population at the Boyce L. Ansley School in Atlanta, Georgia. This is a school for children in grades Pre-K to 6th grade experiencing homelessness. The literacy coordinator for the Boyce L. Ansley School has expressed her endless gratitude for the success of the book drive thus far.

“Mrs. Heacox and I are so incredibly proud of our Jr. Beta students for making arrangements to purchase special books from Amazon for children with dyslexia at the Boyce L. Ansley School in Atlanta.” Mrs. Barrett shared. “Many partnered with their parents to give, which will in turn help all students at Boyce L. Ansley School in Atlanta, especially those with dyslexia.”

We feel honored that MDS alumnus Isabelle Burns, class of 2022, reached out to us to see if we could be of assistance. She knew her Alma Mater was a giving community. Isabelle is a senior at Valdosta State University, studying Communication Sciences and Disorders. She serves as the chair of the social committee of the NSSLHA (National Speech-Language and Hearing Association) chapter at VSU. This is exactly what Cavaliers are called to do: discover, innovate, and serve. 💙 💛 ⚔️

Alumna Kim Dela Cruz (2019) is a rural pediatric scholar today. Congratulations Kim! This is such important work; we're grateful for our Cavaliers who serve!

School of Medicine celebrates 2026 Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Rural Scholars Mercer University School of Medicine recently announced the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Rural Family Therapy Scholars and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Rural Pediatric Scholars for 2026.

Hello Friends, we recently learned of the passing of an alum from the class of 2010. Christian Brewer passed away on April 7. We do not have any information on funeral arrangements yet, but please see the attached information shared with us. The priest they called in for last rites was a former classmate and alum, Fr. Vincent Nguyen.

Friends, please pray for the soul of Heinz Peter Treiber, a member of the class of 1986. We do not have an obituary yet, but we will update this post once we have it.

Please pray for the soul of Robert Waller, who was a member of the class of 1980. Robert "Bob" Eugene Waller II, 63, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away on March 6, 2026. A funeral Mass will be held June 12, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warner Robins, Georgia, with inurnment to follow at the columbarium. The family will receive friends one hour prior.

Cavaliers, please pray for the soul of Edwin Grover Josey, who was a member of the class of 1974. Mr. Eddie Josey, age 70, of Sunhill Grange Road, Sandersville, passed away peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, April 6th at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Sandersville with Reverend Lee Lacey and Mr. Mike Sheppard officiating. Eddie’s family will greet friends following the memorial service in the social hall of the church.
