MGCAE TRIO

Our goal is to help students successfully complete high school and enroll in college.

We offer four comprehensive educational programs and partner with various academic bodies in Middle Georgia, including Middle Georgia State University and the Bibb County Board of Education. We achieve this by equipping them to be successful and meeting their specific academic needs.

Another successful Saturday Session complete ✅

This month’s session focused on Productivity + Self-Awareness, giving students an opportunity to think more intentionally about their habits, goals, strengths, and the choices that can help them have a successful school year.

🏆 We also took time to celebrate our Summer STEM Competition winners during a special awards ceremony! We loved having parents and families join us as we recognized our students for their hard work, creativity, and accomplishments.

Labor Day is a time to recognize the hard work, dedication, and contributions of workers who help strengthen our communities every day.

At the Middle Georgia Center for Academic Excellence, this day is especially meaningful because so much of what we do is centered on preparing young people for their own futures and helping students develop the skills, confidence, education, and opportunities they’ll need to build meaningful careers and contribute to the communities around them. 💙

Check Your Grades Before They Check You!!

Friendly reminder: missing assignments do not disappear just because you stop looking at them. 👀 Check your grades weekly and handle problems while they’re still small.

Ask Before You’re Drowning🥹

Being confused for one day is normal. Staying confused for three weeks because you were afraid to ask? We can fix that. 🙋🏽‍♀️ Ask early. Your teachers, counselors, and MGC advisors are part of your support system.

Your GPA Has a Long Memory🧠

Freshman year counts, folks. 📚 The habits you build now can make sophomore, junior, and senior year much easier. Future-you would like a word.

“I’ll Remember” Is a Trap

You will not remember. Respectfully. 😂 Write. It. Down. Use a planner, calendar, reminders, sticky notes, or whatever system actually keeps you on track.

Join Something

High school feels much smaller once you find your thing. 🏀🎭🔬🎤 Try a club, sport, service project, academic team, or leadership opportunity. You might surprise yourself.

Learn How You Learn

Studying longer does not always mean studying better. 🧠 Figure out what actually helps information stick : flashcards, videos, practice, quiet, study groups, or teaching the lesson to your bedroom wall. No judgment. 😂

You Do NOT Need a 20-Year Plan 🤯

You are a freshman, not the CEO of your entire life yet. 😭 Explore careers, majors, colleges, technical programs, and interests. Your goal is to learn more about your options and yourself.

A huge thank you to parents and Seniors that attended the Senior Saturday Session! 🎊

We got a lot done and had a lot of fun while doing it. Our seniors also conquered some new writing exercises to really dive into what having "DRIVE" really means and what is necessary to reach their post-secondary success of their dreams! We helped them map out the next year and we can't wait to see what all they accomplish.

We’re kicking off the 2026–2027 academic year with our Senior Saturday Session: Senior Success !

This session is all about helping our UB/UBMS seniors get clear on where they stand, identify what still needs to be completed, and turn their senior-year goals into an actionable 30-day plan. We’re not starting from scratch—we’re building on the college, scholarship, FAFSA, testing, résumé, essay, and postsecondary work students have already begun.

Sometimes progress looks like asking one question, finishing one assignment, making one better choice, or taking one small step toward a bigger goal.

Give yourself room to grow, adjust, and learn along the way. Your path may change and that’s okay. What matters is that you keep moving forward with intention. 💙

Ray Lewis tells a story about eagles. If an eagle sees another bird flying at its altitude, it knows that bird is an eagle, because pigeons cannot fly that high. Show me your crowd, and I will show you your future.

Our Director of Operations, Sheldon Hart, just launched a new writing series built on stories like that one, and the first piece asks a question we work on every day at MGCAE: who is around our students, and does that circle challenge them to grow?

Getting students to and through college with a career plan takes more than grades. The people around a young person are part of the preparation, and the series shows the mathematics quietly running underneath that truth.
