Mercer taught Mia Jastrzembski, a biomedical engineering major, how she can use her research and engineering skills to change her community for the better. Her future plans include pursuing a Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, conducting research that focuses on developing treatments for cancer and neurodegenerative disorders, and investing in the next generation of researchers by becoming a professor.
