Sigma Chi Fraternity at WIU

One of our brothers, Preston McCurry recently had the opportunity to travel to Salt Lake City, Utah, with Sigma Chi and the Huntsman Cancer Institute, where he attended a philanthropy experience alongside other chapter philanthropy chairs from across the country. During this trip, he learned valuable insight into effective fundraising strategies, event planning, and new ideas that can be applied at our chapter.

Many of the concepts and ideas he brought back will be implemented during this year’s Derby Days events as we continue working to strengthen our philanthropic impact and expand our fundraising efforts.

So far, our chapter has raised $4,825, which is the most money raised in our chapter’s history and it was accomplished in just one semester.

Our goal for the 2025–2026 academic year is to raise $10,000 for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. We will continue pushing forward through events, partnerships, and campus outreach to close that gap!

The Iota Omicron Chapter of Sigma Chi is proud to welcome 15 newly initiated brothers. This is our largest class in nearly a decade. We cannot wait to see what these amazing men will do for our chapter throughout their time here and the mark they will leave on our brotherhood, campus, and community.

Yesterday, we had a vintage clothing sale at the house. We were able to raise $775 for the Huntsman cancer foundation!

Chris Krohe: The Man Behind the Latex Glove Ban — Illinois Spina Bifida Association Chris Krohe, from Beardstown, IL, successfully led the advocacy for a ban on latex gloves. His motivation stemmed from personal experiences of severe latex allergies. Despite a few setbacks, Krohe's dedication and collaborative efforts led to the passage of the Latex Glove Ban Act in Illinois.

Sigma Chi was founded on the principles of Friendship, Justice, and Learning; and was founded to build young men into Value Based Leaders.

On our campus, we are located at 830 N Avery st. Our house rooms 18 brothers and also includes a basketball courts so you can hoop with the bros. With living in the house being so instrumental in joining our brotherhood, we give away generous scholarships to help offset the cost of housing, making living at the Sigma Chi Chapter House cheaper than the dorms.
