🎉 Exciting news! Congratulations to undergraduate student Sydnee Osgood on being accepted into the prestigious Fulbright Canada-Mitacs Globalink Research Internship!✨ This incredible program will allow Sydnee to spend 10-12 weeks in Canada conducting advanced research, gaining professional training, and experiencing cultural, social, and recreational opportunities. We are so proud of you, Sydnee, and can’t wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish! 🌟

In the spring, chemistry major Isabel Navas Rodriguez was honored with the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, recognizing a student-athlete who excels both on the field and in academics, making significant contributions to the department and community. Isabel received this award because of her active involvement in research and her aspiration to pursue a Ph.D. in biochemistry.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2024 has been awarded to David Baker, Demis Hassabis, and John Jumber for building entirely new kinds of proteins and s about proteins and developing an AI model to predict the complex structure of proteins.

Students from the Chemistry and Physics Departments enthusiastically participated in the annual kickball game, which took place on September 18th. The event was held on the field behind Currens Hall, bringing together faculty and students, for an afternoon of fun and friendly competition.

The Chemistry Poster Research Day was a great event. A large number of our ambitious students presented their impressive research projects. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow students and faculty and to witness the innovative work being undertaken in the department.
