In the spring, chemistry major Isabel Navas Rodriguez was honored with the Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, recognizing a student-athlete who excels both on the field and in academics, making significant contributions to the department and community. Isabel received this award because of her active involvement in research and her aspiration to pursue a Ph.D. in biochemistry.

The Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2024 has been awarded to David Baker, Demis Hassabis, and John Jumber for building entirely new kinds of proteins and s about proteins and developing an AI model to predict the complex structure of proteins.
