We support Lincoln students. Go Bitty Bombers! The Lincoln School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) was established to support the school and benefit the students.

Historically we have supported teachers and students through a number of standing committees that work to raise money, foster positive community relations and promote school spirit. Some of our past fundraising has enabled the purchase of computers for class-rooms, playground equipment, hand chimes for music class, and classroom games and supplies. One of the major expenditures of the PTO during a normal year are class field trips. Due to the pandemic, classes did not go on their usual field trips this year. Instead, students have had walking field trips around town. Local organizations have stepped up and stepped in to make the end of this year special for the students at Lincoln School. Thank you to our community for supporting our students.

Thanks to the Macomb Illinois Police Department, Downtown Macomb, City of Macomb, IL, Macomb Public Library, Macomb Park District, Western Illinois Museum, and The Crafty Coop, LLC.

Tomorrow we ask that you and your students send in notes and pictures of appreciation for the teachers and staff.

Community News Brief

Update - March 16, 2020
Bombers
The health, safety, and well-being of our students and staff are our top priorities at Macomb School District. As you are all aware schools have been mandated to close in the state of Illinois until March 30. At Macomb School District 185, we believe that it is our responsibility to help students in any way we can continue their education. Therefore, we have made plans to provide Academic Engagement Days throughout this time. In addition to academics, we want to provide meals for families who will need assistance during this school closure.

First and Foremost, I would ask that each family goes into Skyward and confirm your address, email and phone number is current, as this is our primary means of communication. If you have forgotten your username and password, please contact the school office.

For those families that indicated a desire for meals be delivered, it will be delivered to your door. Meals will be loaded on buses tomorrow morning starting at 6:30 a.m. Please expect someone to knock on your door for meal delivery. For those who indicated they want a grab and go meal on Tuesday, they will be available during the packet pick-up. Starting Wednesday and continuing through March 30, grab and go meals will be available between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at Lincoln, Edison and the Macomb Junior/Senior High School. I want to take time to thank John Curtis and Genesis Garden for assisting with meal delivery.

We have collected data to see what families need electronic devices, we will work over the course of the next few days to determine which households need devices and will get them delivered. Also, we have worked closely with MTC Communications to provide wi-fi for Prairie View and Wheeler Street communities. Wi-Fi should be available sometime tomorrow. This is in addition to the multiple hot-spots MTC Communications currently has around town. These hot-spots are available 24-7.

Our buildings are closed to the students and public. All school and district office staff will monitor email throughout the closure. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have a question or concern, or if you need assistance.

In closing, we will keep you updated. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we try to do what is best for our students and community.

[03/16/20]   The following businesses are offering free meals for kids while schools are closed:

-McAlister's Deli Sack Lunch: Call the store and dial 3 at the prompt to arrange pick up.
-McDonalds East and West: Breakfast available through drive-thru. Child must be present. No substitutions will be made.
-Gelsosomo's Pizzeria: Slices of pizza available for pick up only.

Please utilize these resources if you need them. If you do not need them, please do not take advantage of the kindness of these businesses.

General information

We welcome your participation whenever your schedule allows. Lincoln PTO meets the first Tuesday of each month during the school year (NOTE: we do not meet in January). Meetings typically last from 30 to 45 minutes. During our meetings we review the minutes of our previous meeting, submit the Treasurer’s and standing committee reports, have a Spot-Light Speaker, and discuss new business. Spot-Light Speakers will take 10 to 15 minutes discussing issues related to the well-being of Lincoln Students. If you are unable to attend the meetings consider volunteering for other activities that better meet your scheduling. Any level of involvement is appreciated, so be creative and let us know if you have some ideas to put your skills to work to support students and teachers at Lincoln!
