The Office of Equal Opportunity and Access is in the Quad Cities today to bring awareness about Sexual Assault Awareness Month! Come take a look at the information provided about consent and the white and teal ribbon campaigns.
The white ribbon campaign is a way for male identifying individuals to pledge to stand up against sexual assault and to ensure that they will not promote, condone, or remain silent about any type of violence.
The teal ribbon campaign is a way to show support for survivors of sexual assault. Both campaigns are geared toward an empowering conversation and culture change in regards to sexual assault. Sexual assault has been a normalized occurrence in our society for far too long and the EOA office is attempting to redirect the conversation around sexual assault so that individuals feel empowered and knowledgeable to speak out against sexual assault.

As April is recognized as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), the WIU Office of Equal Opportunity and Access , along with WIU Multicultural Center and the WIRC-CAA Victim Services, has programs and events planned to raise awareness of sexual assault.
"It is beyond time to stand up and speak out against sexual assault. While April is designated as sexual assault awareness month, it is our responsibility each and every day to report assault and harassment, and to provide resources and support to survivors," said Paul Frost, WIU College Student Personnel graduate student and WIU Office of Equal Opportunity and Access (EOA) graduate assistant, who is coordinating this year's events.
