Congratulations to Dr. Carlson who was recently elected President of the Illinois Association of Music Therapy! She has already begun her term and looks forward to working with all of the music therapists in the State!

Students from the Music Therapy and Medicine class presented to West Prairie Jr/Sr High School this morning demonstrating ways that music and music therapy can promote wellness. A fun morning of learning and advocating!

GLR2026 was a huge success! What a wonderful weekend connecting with other music therapists in Kalamazoo!

We look forward to seeing WIU alumni and students outside the Lobby Bar from 8:30-9:30 pm tonight during GLR Conference! If you see Kelly or Naomi during conference, stop us to get a Rocky sticker for your badge!

We are looking forward to seeing alumni and students in Kalamazoo this week for GLR conference! We would love to coordinate a WIU catch up time, but the schedule is packed! I propose we meet in at the Lobby Bar at 8:30 - 9:30 pm on Friday evening for some light snacks and a chance to connect. The other option would be a breakfast get together Friday morning. Chime in and let us know of you can make it!

Dr. Carlson and Naomi, along with many of the students are headed to GLR Conference in Kalamazoo in March. We are planning a WIU dinner (details to follow). We hope to meet many of you there!!!

Congratulations to our three seniors who will be headed to internship in January! We had a fun senior send-off with food, gifts, trivia, purple folders, and music. You are ready to take this next step and remember your WIU family will always be there! Congratulations!

Music Discovery Day today! Dr. Carlson was front and center as she spoke about music therapy at WIU. Approximately 40 prospective music students and their families participated in an egg pass and learned first hand how music can be used to address non-musical goals.

Happy Halloween (if you partake)! The music therapy students prepared their best spooky boomwhacker arrangements and costumes for classes this week!

We hope you all had an amazing Homecoming weekend! Dr. Carlson entered the campus-wide door decorating contest. While we didn't place (there were over 30 doors entered), we had fun being creative with art supplies and snacks!
