It’s Monday… and apparently we’re starting the week with a little reminder that sometimes, you really do get to choose your people. 🥹💚

These two have been friends since the baby room.

Different classrooms, different stages, bigger shoes, bigger personalities… and somehow they still keep finding their way back to each other.

There’s something so sweet about watching a friendship grow right alongside them.

From babies together… to walking hand in hand across the playground.

Some friendships just start early. 🌿

Tonight is our New School Year Refresh, and our Macomb team—minus our GSRP crew—is headed to Clawson for an evening of learning, reconnecting, and getting ready for an incredible year ahead. 🫶🌿

A few blocks, some toy cars, soapy water… and suddenly we’ve got a full-service car wash happening. 😂

They’re building, scrubbing, pouring, negotiating, problem-solving, and taking their jobs very seriously.

The best learning usually looks a whole lot like play. 💚

What can a tube become when no one tells you what it’s supposed to be?

A tunnel. A bridge. A path. Something to lift, carry, balance, connect, and rebuild.

Loose parts give children the freedom to follow their own ideas. As these little engineers moved this tube across the playground, they were exploring weight, distance, balance, coordination, and cooperation—while strengthening their transporting schema: the natural drive to move objects from one place to another.

No instructions. No predetermined outcome. Just children trusting their bodies, testing their ideas, and discovering what works.

This is what learning looks like at Green Garden Macomb.

Summer camp made its own obstacle course—and the real learning wasn’t just in the balancing, climbing, and jumping.

Listen to the way their teacher talks with them. She draws their attention back to their own effort: what they tried, how they adjusted, and how it felt when they accomplished something difficult.

The goal isn’t for children to finish and immediately look toward an adult for a “Good job!” It’s for them to recognize their own persistence and think, “I did that.”

That’s how confidence becomes something they carry within themselves—not something they have to receive from someone else.

There are moments in early childhood that never make the lesson plan.

A child who needs a little longer to regulate.

A quiet hug.

A shoulder to rest on.

No audience.

No applause.

Just a teacher communicating without words:

"I've got you."

Children borrow our calm before they can create their own.

That's why relationships will always be at the heart of what we do.

A kiss.

Someone to hold it close.

Children don't learn kindness from lectures.

They learn it by practicing it.

Every doll they rock.

Every stuffed animal they comfort.

Every blanket they tuck in.

They're building something much bigger than imagination.

They're learning how to care for another living being.

Research tells us that nurturing play helps children develop empathy, emotional understanding, and healthy relationships. That's why you'll find dolls, baby blankets, and dramatic play materials in every one of our classrooms—for every child.

Because compassion isn't a "girl skill."

It's a human one.

It's been the Mondayest Tuesday ever.

Your coffee got cold.

Your inbox keeps growing.

Nothing has gone according to plan.

Then your childcare app sends you this.

A smiling face.

A little giggle.

A baby who couldn't be happier.

And suddenly...

The rest of the day doesn't seem quite so heavy.

Sometimes the best notification isn't on your calendar.

It's a reminder that someone spent their day feeling safe, loved, and completely at home. ❤️

She was trying to find out what was underneath it.

Maybe worms.

Maybe bugs.

Maybe nothing at all.

And honestly...

All three outcomes are worth discovering.

Children don't explore because someone promised an answer.

They explore because they're driven by wonder.

The question is often more important than what they find.

So yes...

We'll help move the log.

Because sometimes the best science lessons begin with,

"I wonder what's under here?"

They're tiny bugs.

To him...

They're worth stopping everything for.

Young children are natural scientists.

They don't need someone to tell them to ask questions.

They already do.

"What is it?"

"Why is it moving?"

"Can I look closer?"

A magnifying glass doesn't just make bugs bigger.

It slows children down long enough to notice details they may have missed.

Curiosity grows when we give children the tools—and the time—to investigate.
