The coolest thing happened this year! We grew pumpkins (on accident)! After Halloween last year, we tossed our pumpkins into the field/empty lot next to our house, and this summer we noticed pumpkin plants starting to grow.

We were able to follow the life cycle of a pumpkin which inspired this page of our Halloween Power Pack. 🌱 ☀️ 🎃 Hope you enjoy!

Learning sight words is a foundational skill for Kindergarten (and other grades too!). What better way to keep the learning going than making a sight word wall at your home! After learning and practicing the sight word of the day, add it to the sight word wall! Practice reciting them each day, find sight words in text, draw the word in sensory materials—the list goes on!

Why is it important to learn sight words early? Sight words don’t always follow traditional letter sounds and the “sounding it out” method of decoding words. Teaching sight words gives early readers confidence to read because they recognize so many words while they are reading! Over 50% of written text is comprised of sight words!

PreK books in action!

It’s tough this year to know what to do with our little ones especially when preschool (in person) was in the original plan —> our family! I love that this book kickstarts preschool skills at home! We are all just trying to do the best we can and even if you’re doing in person learning, it’s helpful to have a resource at home to keep the learning going!

Painting the letter B with cotton swabs got very exciting when we continued to use the paint for art! 🎨 I love how every activity can be extended into more learning. We practiced painting straight lines, circles, B’s and more! Why not right?! The paint is already out—have some fun with it! That’s what I call 📚 ✏️
