✈️💙 MEET THE MACHESNEY CREW — SPECIAL EDITION! 💙✈️
It’s Tuesday, which means it’s time to introduce another member of our amazing Machesney Crew — but this week’s introduction is an extra special one!
Please help us give a HUGE Machesney welcome to our new Assistant Principal, Mrs. Heather Stafford! 🎉💙
Mrs. Stafford is officially joining the Machesney family, and we couldn’t be more excited to have her aboard! She took some time to introduce herself and share a little about the educator, person, and leader our students and families will be getting to know this year.
So rather than tell you about her ourselves, we’re going to let Mrs. Stafford take it from here! 💙
✨ Meet Mrs. Heather Stafford, Machesney’s new Assistant Principal:
Hello everyone! I am so thrilled to be joining this wonderful community as your new Assistant Principal.
I’ve spent the last twenty years in the classroom, where my heart has always been centered on creating a safe, joyous, and welcoming space for students to grow. Education isn't just my career—it's my passion!
What made you want to become an administrator?
I loved teaching in my own classroom, but I realized I wanted to support an entire school community! Stepping into administration lets me advocate for teachers, partner with parents, and connect with every single student in the building, rather than just one roomful a year.
What are you most excited about in your new role at Machesney?
The people, hands down! Machesney has such a warm, friendly community, and I am so excited to jump into school events, cheer on our kids, and build strong relationships with all of our amazing families.
What do you hope students and families know about you?
I want you to know that my door is always open and I am truly in your corner. I lead with empathy, listening ears, and a huge heart. Whether your child needs a big high-five for a job well done or a calm space and a gentle conversation on a tough day, I’m here for them.
What is your favorite thing about working with kids?
Their incredible curiosity and authenticity! Kids see the world with so much wonder, and their enthusiasm is contagious. No two days are ever the same, and watching that lightbulb moment when a student realizes “I can do this!” never gets old.
What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at school?
I love spending quality time with my husband and three sons, reading a good book, and working on fun DIY projects around the house. I am looking forward to the birth of my first grandson at the end of October.
Favorite snack/treat?
Freshly baked chocolate chip cookies (especially when they're warm!).
Favorite drink or coffee order?
Depending on the mood (and the weather!), it’s a tie between a refreshing strawberry lemonade or an iced caramel frappé for a little afternoon pick-me-up!
Favorite color?
Pink! 🩷
What always makes you smile?
High-fives in the hallway, random acts of kindness, and seeing kids stand up for one another.
And most importantly… what is your official stance on extra recess?
As official as it gets: 100% in favor! Fresh air, movement, and play are essential for growing brains. If we work hard and show great character, you can bet I’ll be hunting for excuses to grant a few extra minutes on the playground!
I am so honored to be here and can’t wait for a fantastic school year together! Please stop by and say hello whenever you see me!
💙✈️ Welcome aboard, Mrs. Stafford! ✈️💙
We are so excited to have you as part of the Machesney Crew, and we have a feeling that 100% in favor of extra recess is going to make you pretty popular around here. 😉
Machesney families, help us officially welcome Mrs. Heather Stafford in the comments! 💙
