💪 12 Days - “We Always Figure It Out… Until Now.”

They said, “Oh, they’ll figure it out.”
Because that’s what educators do, right?

We stretch every penny to fill a classroom for a year with a single hundred-dollar bill.
We get Sally to eat green beans when her parents never could.
We potty train eight toddlers, some whose parents had nearly given up trying.
We teach patience, kindness, resilience, and hope.

We do the impossible every single day.

So when the state handed us the impossible, they assumed we’d take it in stride. That we’d quietly adapt. That we’d “figure it out,” like we always do.

But this time, they were wrong.

Because this isn’t about us.
It’s about them.
It’s about the children learning to share and count and sing.
It’s about the families working hard to build a better life.
It’s about the parents who trust us with the most important thing in their world.

We’re not fighting for ourselves.
We’re fighting for Arkansas families.
For stability. For access. For the future.

And we’re not backing down.

Child care isn’t a luxury. It’s the infrastructure that keeps Arkansas running.
When it cracks, families falter.
Businesses lose workers.
The economy slows.
Communities weaken.

We’re not asking for favors. We’re demanding foresight.

If our leaders can celebrate business growth, infrastructure investments, and workforce development then they must also care about the foundation that makes all of that possible.

Because without child care, none of it stands.

We’ve carried this state’s future on our backs long enough.
It’s time for the leaders of Arkansas to help carry it, too.

12 days left to do what’s right for our children, our families, our workforce, and our economy.

📚 Education does NOT start in Kindergarten.

From birth to age five, a child’s brain builds the foundations for learning, relationships, and health. By age five, most of a child’s brain architecture is already in place, which is why these early years are so critical.

Research shows that high-quality early childhood programs yield around a 13% annual return over time. In fact, many studies estimate that for every $1 invested, society gains back as much as $16 in long-term benefits from stronger educational outcomes and higher earnings to lower crime and health costs.

If the state of Arkansas can afford spend hundreds of millions on private school vouchers without income requirements, then we can and must invest in our most vulnerable children and ensure families can keep working.

Right now, Arkansas is moving in the wrong direction:
⚠️ Centers are already announcing closures.
⚠️ Families are pulling kids out because they can’t afford new copays.
⚠️ Classroom safety is at risk as providers cut staff just to stay open.

This cannot wait.

📣 Governor Sanders must call a special session now so our legislators can work with us on a solution.

Here’s how YOU can help:
âś… Sign and share the petition https://chng.it/w4Mb8j4QKP
✅ Email or call the Governor. Let her know Arkansas kids can’t wait!
âś… Tell your story in the comments. Your voices matter!

Investing in early childhood is investing in Arkansas’s future. The time to act is NOW!!

🌟 A Message for Our Followers 🌟

As the owner of Lil’ Sprouts of Sheridan, I stand with child care providers across the state of Arkansas in asking for a pause on the October 1st changes to the School Readiness Assistance (Voucher) funding. My immediate goal is to work toward solutions that reduce the burden on low-income families and protect the staff who give so much of themselves every day to care for and teach our children.

I am making adjustments, within our program, wherever possible to prevent laying off any staff. I am making personal sacrifices and collaborating with my team to create thoughtful, creative solutions. And while the impending circumstances make things incredibly difficult, I do not plan to discontinue accepting vouchers. We are the only provider in Sheridan, and one of the only in Grant County, that accepts both vouchers and infants. I cannot, in good conscience, take away what is virtually the only option for those families in our community.

I will continue to fight for these families, for the educators in centers across Arkansas, and for the survival of our program and all the others now at risk. This week, I have been in constant communication with legislators and providers from across the state. I have spent countless hours researching, writing, and speaking with the media. I have been doing my due diligence to prepare as best as possible for something that no one could ever truly prepare for.

Next week, I will be in attendance at the House Early Childhood Subcommittee of Education meeting on Tuesday at 1 p.m. This meeting is open to the public and will also be live streamed, with time for open comment. On Wednesday at 2 p.m., I will join providers and supporters at the Arkansas State Capitol to show a united presence in opposition to these harmful changes. We have legislative support, and for that I am very grateful. I look forward to productive conversations in the days ahead.

I hope you will consider joining us for A Day Without Childcare on Wednesday, October 1st at 2 p.m. at the Capitol. Our presence and our voices matter for the families we serve, for the staff who dedicate themselves to this work, and for the future of early childhood education in Arkansas.

📢 Pause October 1st. Protect Arkansas’s children, families, and educators.

🌱💜 Farewell, Lil’ Sprouts Academy – Part 2 💜🌱

As I walk these halls for the last time, it is truly bittersweet. While I’m excited to focus more on my family in this next season, I can’t help but feel the weight of saying goodbye to this space that has been filled with so much joy and growth.

None of this would have been possible without the incredible staff who poured their love, time, and energy into every child who came through our doors. Their dedication has been the heartbeat of Lil’ Sprouts, and I’m so grateful for each of them. 🌟

I am incredibly thankful for every child, every family, and every staff member who has been part of this journey. You’ve made Lil’ Sprouts more than just a daycare; you’ve made it a family. 🌻

While my heart aches as this chapter closes, I pray for every child and family who may walk through these doors in the future. May this place continue to be filled with love, learning, and laughter. 🙏💜

With a grateful heart,
Dawn

🌱💜 Farewell, Lil’ Sprouts Academy – Part 1 💜🌱

It’s hard to believe this chapter is coming to a close. For almost 5 years, Lil’ Sprouts Academy has had the joy and privilege of serving the wonderful families of Shannon Hills. The countless hugs, the laughter, the milestones, and all the love shared within these walls will forever hold a special place in my heart. 💕

I will deeply miss rocking babies to sleep, hearing their giggles fill the rooms, and watching little ones grow day by day. It has truly been one of the greatest honors of my life to be part of so many children’s early years. These are moments I will cherish forever.
