Along the way, you found your anchors. The classmates who stayed up all night studying beside you. The instructors who pushed you to your limits, not to break you, but because they saw your potential and refused to let you settle for less. The staff who greeted you with a smile, guided you through the maze of college life, and made sure you never had to navigate it alone.

Together, you turned the unfamiliar into home.

A team of Tritons recently returned from the National Council on Undergraduate Research in Virginia! Their journey began last year right in our classrooms. Guided by dedicated faculty mentors, these students spent months expanding standard course assignments into sophisticated, deeply personal research.

Standing by their posters, they engaged in one-on-one dialogues with national peers and industry experts—sharpening their professional communication skills and building incredible confidence.

The worst possible outcome is exactly what they're looking for.

​Huddled around a small pool tucked away on campus, the Triton Tech ROV team watches as their underwater remote operated vehicle disappears beneath the surface. Just a few feet away Apollo Graves watches a laptop as he maneuvers the ROV with a game controller.

​They want to see all the problems.

Pipes and balls are thrown into the water, simulating tasks they will face at the MATE ROV Competition. As the ROV dives, the team takes notes, adjusts parts, and troubleshoots issues.
​They laugh as they work, but they know what's coming.
​
At the competition, Apollo will have to navigate the ROV through a research pool designed to simulate Arctic conditions, relying entirely on a camera feed. No one on the team will be allowed to help.

Signs of Spring on campus!

College isn’t just preparing students for a job. It prepares them to solve the problems in our community.

It started with salmon eggs in a classroom tank thanks to Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife. A few months later, Tritons were at Lake Ballinger, releasing them into the wild.

Tritons in EdCAP and High School+ in ecology classes spent the quarter testing water quality, studying local habitats, and learning how pollution and environmental change impact salmon populations in our region.

By releasing these fish into Lake Ballinger, they aren't just finishing a credit, they are bridging the gap between a classroom and a career in marine biology or conservation.

The work can continue beyond the classroom by staying involved through the Edmonds College Stream Team, a volunteer group working to improve the health of local creeks and wetlands.
