My kids told me I looked like a scary monster the other day when I woke up, so I took a picture because I like remembering the weird stuff my kids do and say!

I did feel particularly like a monster this day. The world was a lot, the noise of it all constant, it was one of those days where I felt like crawling back in bed and never coming out.

And I remembered how much those are the days that I need people around me, I need support, I need reassurance that it’s all gonna be okay, I need a place to be.

Most of the time, it’s not evidence-based.
Most of the time, it’s bias dressed up as medical concern.

And when you’re pregnant, that bias can shape choices, limit options, and plant fear where confidence should be.

Advocating for yourself in prenatal care isn’t about fighting, convincing, or proving your worth. It’s about being treated with basic respect—something fat parents are far too often denied.

Weight bias in pregnancy shows up quietly sometimes, and other times it hits you like a wall: assumptions, scare tactics, dismissive comments, or “protocols” that magically appear only for larger bodies.

You deserve care that’s rooted in evidence, not stereotypes.
You deserve providers who see you—not your BMI.
