My kids told me I looked like a scary monster the other day when I woke up, so I took a picture because I like remembering the weird stuff my kids do and say!

I did feel particularly like a monster this day. The world was a lot, the noise of it all constant, it was one of those days where I felt like crawling back in bed and never coming out.

And I remembered how much those are the days that I need people around me, I need support, I need reassurance that it’s all gonna be okay, I need a place to be.

Not everybody has these places. So, if you need some time to talk, ask questions to someone other than Google, and be together in community, come join my live IG Q&A.

I did a thing over the summer and I’m absolutely obsessed!

Yes, this is my body, yes this is the word FAT, yes, I know it will be on there forever, yes, it’s a sign of freedom and liberation, and yes I’m q***r.

Any questions?

No.

I didn’t think so.

Live authentically, joyfully, and brilliantly as you.

Let’s be very clear:
It is not your job to educate your provider.
It is not your job to tolerate endless weight talk.
And it is not your job to accept care that ignores your real concerns.

Providers get stuck on weight for a lot of reasons—outdated training, fear, bias, liability anxiety—but none of those reasons justify making your body the center of every appointment.

In this post, I share:
✨ why weight becomes the default
✨ how weight stigma shows up in pregnancy care
✨ real scripts you can use to shut it down
✨ and a client story that proves boundaries actually work

You deserve care that sees you, not just a number.

You’re not imagining it.
You’re not “sensitive.”
And you’re definitely not alone.

If every prenatal appointment turns into a conversation about your weight—no matter what you came in for—that’s not coincidence. That’s a system that’s been trained to look at bodies instead of people.

Pelvic pain? Weight.
Blood pressure question? Weight.
Totally unrelated concern? Yep… weight again.

This blog breaks down why providers get stuck there, how that fixation can cause real harm, and what you can say—out loud, in the moment—to redirect the conversation back to actual care.

You are allowed to set boundaries.
You are allowed to say “we’re not discussing weight today.”
You are allowed to expect better.

If you’ve ever heard the phrase “because of your weight…” in a prenatal appointment, you already know how quickly it can take the air out of the room.

Most of the time, it’s not evidence-based.
Most of the time, it’s bias dressed up as medical concern.

And when you’re pregnant, that bias can shape choices, limit options, and plant fear where confidence should be.

You deserve better than blanket assumptions.
You deserve informed consent—not weight-based shame.

✨ The latest blog walks you through the most common signs of weight bias and exactly what you can say when it happens.

Advocating for yourself in prenatal care isn’t about fighting, convincing, or proving your worth. It’s about being treated with basic respect—something fat parents are far too often denied.

Weight bias in pregnancy shows up quietly sometimes, and other times it hits you like a wall: assumptions, scare tactics, dismissive comments, or “protocols” that magically appear only for larger bodies.

You deserve care that’s rooted in evidence, not stereotypes.
You deserve providers who see you—not your BMI.

It covers what weight bias looks like and how to respond in real time.
