Admission Policies

Bright Beginnings shall accept only children who are at a stage of growth and development which enables them to benefit from its program, and for whose age level the center is staffed and equipped to provide care. The childcare center shall not admit or maintain any child whose needs it obviously cannot meet or whose behavior would be dangerous for other children in the center. Explicit, documented reasons for refusal to admit or provide care to a child shall be provided in written form to parents. Because of this policy, we require a 90-day probationary period. If at the end of the 90 days, we feel we are not the best fit for your family we will contact you. There shall be no discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, s*x,
national origin, or handicap.

Hours of Operation
Bright Beginnings is open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Children must be dropped off by 8:30 a.m. unless arranged ahead of time with the director and/or assistant director.

Authorization for Child’s Release
Children will be released only to a parent, or a person named by the parent. Parents or persons named by the parent must make sure that a staff member is aware of the child’s arrival and departure. All parents/guardians must sign their child(ren) into Bright Wheel upon arrival and departure. Anyone who is allowed to pick up must be listed on the Bright Wheel app. Tablets are available in the entry doorway, one by the door and one on the other end of the hallway. A paper QR code is also displayed for quick scan. Signing in and out will also ensure proper in and out times.

Court Orders
If a court order exists preventing a particular individual from having contact with a child, the center shall comply with the order. There must be a copy of the legal court document in the child’s file.

Emergency Medical Authorization
I, the undersigned parent/guardian, give my consent for the above-named child to be released to me or my spouse or to the friend/relative I have so designated and/or to be taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital in case of emergency. I further acknowledge that I am financially responsible for medical, dental, ambulance, or other health care expenses of transportation of my child home, which might occur as a result of such illness or injury.

Transportation Permission
In the event of a field trip, or other such activity, I give my permission for my child to be transported by Bright Beginnings Daycare in a motor vehicle. I give my permission for my child to be transported to and from Bright Beginnings by the childcare center in a motor vehicle.

Payment Plan
Payment is due in advance on Monday of the current week when paying weekly, the first Monday in a two-week period when paying semi-monthly, or the first of the month when paying monthly. A cost list is included with your welcome packet. If payment is not made, a $10 late fee will be added per week. Any child more than 2 consecutive weeks behind will no longer be permitted to stay for childcare until charges are brought current.

Meal Plan
Breakfast will be offered to children who are in attendance at the childcare center before 8:00 a.m. A morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack will be served daily.

Parent Conferences/Communication Policy
Parent-teacher conferences will be scheduled as needed or a parent may request such a conference at any time. In addition, staff is always available for on-going communication and parents are always welcome at any and all times to observe our program. All communication will be through Bright Wheel. You can message out to all Staff, or select that it goes just to administration, which will go directly to the Director and the Assistant Director only. The directors’ personal number can be used at any time as well. Any messages Monday-Friday will be answered as soon as possible, during the time of 6AM-5:30PM. Any messages on the weekends may not be answered until the following Monday.

Health Examination
A health examination including immunizations is required for each child within 12 months prior to admission to the Bright Beginnings or within one month after admission on the forms provided. Childcare center services will be terminated if a health form is not returned within the above stated time period. Health examinations shall be repeated annually for children two years of age and younger. (Attach copy of your child’s immunizations)

Significant Occurrences or Problems
You will be notified of any significant occurrences or problems which affect your child, including exposure to communicable diseases. Under the HIPA law we will always keep personal information private, no names will be ever mentioned in giving information as the current situation.

Discipline Policy
Bright Beginnings Daycare uses a positive disciplinary approach with children. Caregivers communicate to children using positive statements, encourage children, with adult support, to use their own words and solutions to resolve conflicts, and communicate with children at eye level and talk to them in a calm manner about the behavior that is expected. Recurring disciplinary problems will be addressed with parents and documented in the child’s record. Time Outs are enforced when appropriate.

Aggressive behavior policy.
Aggressive behavior includes but not limited to biting, scratching, excessive hitting, uncontrollable tantrum, anything that will leave a mark, bruise, and cause bleeding. If biting /scratching/anything that will leave a mark occurs the child will be sent directly to time out. The child will also have to stay near a teacher for the remainder of the day. If the child has 3 incidents within one day, they will be sent home immediately. If the child comes back the next day and aggressive behavior happens again, they will be sent home for the remaining week. If any event causes blood, that child will be sent home for the day regardless of the number of times the action occurred. Parents of both sides of the incident will be notified and a brief description of what happened will be given, along with a picture. Communication will be done through Bright Wheel.

Program Description
The program provides developmentally appropriate activities for children. Children are provided time to choose their own activities and work independently in learning centers. Caregivers serve as facilitators to enhance the children’s choices. As a Christian Ministry, it is our goal to practice and explore the word of God through age-appropriate activities. We also include prayer before meals. We also incorporate monthly memory verses for the children to memorize.

Withdraw Policy
In order to withdraw a child from Bright Beginnings Daycare and not be charged for care. We require 14-day notice that your child will no longer be enrolled at Bright Beginnings Daycare. If a 14-day notice is not given you are still responsible to pay for the following 14 days after the child’s last day at the daycare. A written, signed, and dated letter of resignation is required for filing purposes of the daycare. The Daycare Director can make multiple copies for your records to keep.

Termination Policy
If any issues of any kind, at any point in time arise during the enrollment of your child(ren), we will sit down and have a conference to discuss the current issue at that time. We will set a plan into motion and give an appropriate timeline to see if the issues can be resolved. If the issue can’t be resolved after the timeline, immediate termination may be given. If issues during the conference aren’t resolved, immediate notice of termination may be given.

Policy about Children Left After Closing Time
Children are expected to be picked up by closing time. A charge of $1.00 per minute will be assessed per child to any family picking the child up after 5:30 p.m. (closing time). If any child is not picked up 30 minutes after closing time, Child Protective Services will be contacted to pick up your child. Proper use of clocking your child in and out of Bright wheel will help provide accurate leaving time.

Policy Reporting Suspected Child Abuse
The childcare center is required by law to report any suspected child abuse or neglect to Child Protective Services.

Confidentiality Policy
All information pertaining to admission, health, family, or discharge of a child is confidential.

Policy on Release of a Child to an Intoxicated or Impaired Person
If an authorized intoxicated or impaired person insists on removing children from the center, the center shall immediately report the incident to the local police agency.

Vacation
Bright Beginnings offers 2 full weeks of vacation for full time students when parents do not have to pay for daycare. One week has to be used for Christmas break (from Christmas Eve to New Year’s Day) when we are closed, and the other week is used at parents’ choice. It must be used as a full week, not individual days. PT students will only receive the Christmas week of vacation.
Policy on Alcohol, To***co, Fi****ms, Illegal Substances
The use of to***co, and use or possession of alcohol, illegal substances and fi****ms is prohibited on church grounds.

Right To Take Action
Our priority is to have a SAFE Christian daycare for all of the children. We are also very concerned about the welfare of the staff of Bright Beginnings and their families. If a concern ever arises, please contact the Daycare Director directly to assist with any questions and or problems. If for some reason this does not resolve the issue or if it is something you do not feel comfortable discussing with the director, we want to provide contacts for Bright Beginnings Board of Directors. Please do not share this personal information and only use it appropriately. (Contact information is provided separately and is yours to keep.)
We also have parent complaint forms next to the sign in sheet that can anonymously be dropped in the payment lock box at any time for your convenience!

Ill Child Policy
• Children who are ill will not be allowed to attend Bright Beginnings Daycare. If your child becomes ill while at the center, you will be contacted to pick up your child. If you cannot be reached, someone from your emergency contacts will be contacted. Your child may not return to the center until he/she is symptom free for 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications for any illness. A fever is considered anything 100.4 and above.
• If your child has 3 episodes of diarrhea, they will be required to go home, and can’t return until a solid BM has been produced.
• Any child that vomits, even without a fever, must go home and not come back until 24 system free. Infant spit up occurs, and this doesn't apply to under one. Self-induced gagging that initiated vomiting is also excluded from this.
• RSV/Croup guidelines. If a child gets a diagnose of RSV/Croup, that child is required to be out for 5 days from diagnosis, to help stop the spread to others. If cases of RSV/Croup are going around in the daycare and your child starts to show symptoms, your child may be sent home and will require a safe to return note from the doctor.
• Covid guidelines. Any child to test positive for Covid must stay home for 5 days after the positive. If your child has contact from a positive in home Covid case, the child must stay out for 5 days. On the 5th day they may take a test, from a doctor’s office, and if negative they can return the following day. We will require documentation from the doctor about the negative test. If you chose not to test, they must stay out for 10 days, from the first day of contact. If they test positive during their quarantine, they may return 5 days after the positive test.
If at any point your child starts to cough excessively, crying uncontrollably, has a constant complaint of belly pain, or any other ill-like behavior, this could result in getting sent home. We strive to maintain a healthy daycare. One of our goals at Bright Beginnings is to keep and maintain the health and safety of all the children
