🔵How do we register for summer lessons❔

Just complete the online registration form (see pinned post above)! You can register at any point - there isn't a specific cut off, though it is recommended to register by June 1st so you can begin scheduling your summer lessons soon.

🔵What do I do if I want summer lessons, but my teacher's availability doesn't align with mine ❔

The first step is to reach out to them about it - while our weeks off are usually not flexible, our weekly schedule may be. We try to consolidate our teaching hours to make good use of our time, but we can often work with you if need be.

If the schedules can’t be reconciled, they may have recommendations for another teacher you could study under for the duration of the summer. We want to see you thrive! Even if that means we have to share. 😉

🔵When will we receive summer invoices ❔

We won't even begin working on those until the spring semester officially ends May 15th. :)

All of our summer onboarding is done manually. There are quite a few behind-the-scenes steps that allow for the flexibility we are able to offer you in the summer months, so please bear with us while we wrap up this semester and get ready for the next!

🔵Why can't I see any of my teacher's availability in the calendar in my studio account ❔

The studio policies for summer 2026 accurately reflect your teacher's availability. We have not updated the calendar yet.

If you do happen to be able to see some availability, chances are...it isn't accurate! 🫣 Every year about this time, we have to do some "spring cleaning" with our studio management system.

Please do not register for specific summer lesson slots until AFTER you have received and paid your summer invoice. I promise by then it will be ready for you!

🎙️Summertime, and the livin' is easy...🎶

Around here, summer is for dippin' our toes into the waters of a new musical genre or instrument, experimenting with improvisation or arranging, stretching ourselves and enjoying the process.

If you've been with us over the summer before, you know how fun it can be to keep the momentum going without missing a beat in your music lessons while simultaneously varying the theme.

If that sounds like the summer you're looking for, you're in the right spot and we'd love to have you join us!

Here's how summer private lessons work:

1️⃣Check out your teacher's expected availability, then decide which lesson package is right for you (4, 6, or 8 lessons) based on your own schedule.

2️⃣Once you have registered, received and paid your invoice, you will receive the appropriate number of credits to your account. It is your responsibility to schedule those lessons with your teacher.

3️⃣Log into your account at our website www.ketteringpianostudio.com

4️⃣Navigate to the Calendar using the menu on the left-hand side of your screen.

5️⃣Choose the “Find & Book” filter to see your teacher’s openings.

6️⃣Select times that work for your schedule and book!

You would be amazed how much babies and toddlers learn in our Smart Start music classes!

By the end of this semester, the infant class may or will:

🪘respond to the beat and accented sounds on their bodies and on instruments

🪘develop rhythmic awareness

🪘respond to high, low, loud, soft, fast, slow, and accented sounds

🪘notice contrasts in section of music

🪘explore classroom instruments

🪘show engagement through attentive watching and listening, body movement, or vocalization

🪘respond with movement to changes in tempo, pitch, meter, and rhythm

🪘develop an understanding and awareness of non-native musical components and styles

🪘start to associate musical pitch height with physical height through vocabulary and actions

🪘recognize simple repeated patterns in music

🪘switch between different actions in response to known musical changes

🪘reproduce actions learned through movement to instruments.

Our Smart Start early childhood music education classes are still going, and it isn’t too late to join - in fact, we have one new family starting this week.

I have been asked recently, why Smart Start? Why not a different ECME program?

Here is why this is what I chose for my own kids and to offer to the community along the way:

1️⃣Smart Start was developed by musicians and neuroscientists to help children develop four key cognitive skills: attention, memory, perception, and cognitive flexibility.

2️⃣ Smart Start incorporates music from different cultures and languages with every lesson! Last week between the two classes offered I was singing in English, German, Spanish, Yiddish, and a dialect from Burkina Faso. We know that the first three years of life are some of the most crucial for language development, so I LOVE that my boys are hearing many different languages represented!

3️⃣ As a program of the Royal Conservatory of Music, Smart Start transitions beautifully into private lessons around age 6 or 7. I wanted a general music curriculum that could seamlessly integrate with piano lessons as children grow and this was the best fit.

This one is extra special to me. 🩵💙

Because I’m getting to share my passion with some of the people I love most in the whole world.

And I get that it is a lot to pack up littles and get out of the house, but this curriculum is so incredibly enriching and worth it. The whole reason I pursued certification in the Smart Start program is because I wanted my boys to get to experience it. And I would love to share it with you!

And because I know how worth it this is, Atticus and Theo and I are inviting you to try a class with us for free!

Summer lessons kick off today!

We offer flexible summer scheduling, with packages of 4, 6, or 8 lessons with one of our three piano teachers or our new guest vocal teacher, Mrs. Courtney Weber!

You can schedule these lessons at your convenience to easily accommodate VBS, soccer camps, swim lessons, and trips to Disney.
