LAST CHANCE! Turn in your completed Summer Reading Log by September 1st, and receive a prize voucher good for a free book of your choice from Green Mountain Books!

So far, a total of 311 kids (!!!) have earned the prize of a free book during this year's Summer Reading Challenge, including more than 170 kids who each read (or were read to) for at least 1,000 minutes this summer, and more than 130 kids who each read (or were read to) for at least 240 minutes during KESD's summer camp program.

Huge thanks to longtime Summer Reading Challenge sponsor Passumpsic Bank , which donated a whopping $2,000 this year to cover the cost of the prize books!

And special thanks to Green Mountain Books and Prints for helping to stretch these funds as far as possible with a generous 25% discount on all of these prize books!

Finally, a big shout-out to Lyndonville Subway for adding an unexpected bonus prize -- a gift card for a free six-inch sub for every kid who read for at least 1,000 minutes.

So if you haven't yet turned in your Summer Reading Log, don't miss your chance, just bring it to the main desk at the library by this coming Tuesday, September 1st. Then head to the bookstore and pick out any book -- new, used, or even special ordered! (Up to $20 in value.)

Take a photo of the completed Reading log and e-mail it to garrett@cobeighlibrary,org by Tuesday, Sept, 1st, and then come pick up your prize voucher as soon as you are able to get to the library...prize vouchers must be redeemed at Green Mountain Books no later than September 30th.)

We had a fantastic time hosting T. Greenwood, Author (better known as beloved local, Tammy Greenwood) at the library yesterday evening! We had a wonderful turnout upstairs as Tammy read passages from her newest release (and 16th novel) "Everything Has Happened," and she was kind enough to sign copies of the story at the end of the program. Thank you to Green Mountain Books and Prints for co-sponsoring this event with us!

Our building is getting a few upgrades this month! Last week, we had our piano in the children's room cleaned and tuned by Emerson Gale Piano Service, who did a wonderful job. Additionally, we had a Koala baby-changing station hung up on the bathroom wall in the children's room last Friday, and we owe a big thank you to Four Corners Carpentry & Restoration for completing this installation for free, which was incredibly kind! The owner of the business, Louie Lacroix, does a lot for the community, and we are incredibly grateful for his help. Both of these renovations were also made possible thanks to a $10,000 grant from the American Library Association. The Accessible Small and Rural Communities Grant will also allow us to buy accessible board games, text-to-speech devices, and even a stair climber for patrons with mobility limitations, plus we are excited to install an automatic door opener for our side entrance. We hope to finish these projects by the end of September, and if you have any questions about the grant in the meantime, please don't hesitate to email [email protected].
