The Riverside School Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that Caroline Thompson has been chosen and has accepted the position as Riverside’s next Head of School.

The intentional and thorough search process undertaken by the Board, the hiring committee, with input from the broader community, has affirmed that Caroline is the right person to lead Riverside’s next chapter as Head of School. The strong support she has from staff, students and families, Caroline’s decades of teaching experience, her commitment to the needs of students and faculty, and her focus on Riverside’s mission and culture were highlighted in the input we received from all of Riverside’s stakeholders.

Caroline has served this year as the interim Head of School for Riverside, where she has also taught Mathematics and Leadership since 2020. She has over 20 years of experience teaching middle school mathematics. Caroline holds a Master of Education degree from Franklin Pierce University, as well as educational certifications from both Vermont and New Hampshire.

Caroline’s professional expertise is only part of what she brings to the role of Riverside’s next Head of School. Caroline recognizes the challenges and opportunities that Riverside faces, the importance of maintaining a supportive community for Riverside’s faculty, students, and families, and the can-do attitude required to lead a mission-driven community school like Riverside.
