Celebrating Student Excellence & Looking Ahead at SEL!

Last night’s South Euclid-Lyndhurst Board of Education meeting was filled with plenty to celebrate!

We were incredibly proud to recognize 18 SEL students who earned a PERFECT SCORE on their Ohio State Tests! This outstanding achievement reflects their hard work, preparation, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. Congratulations to our students, and thank you to the families, teachers, and staff who support them every step of the way!

We also celebrated Brush High School student Cyan Evans, who designed the official Brush High School 100th Anniversary logo! Cyan’s design honors the history and tradition of Brush and will be featured throughout this milestone year. Congratulations, Cyan, on having your work become part of Brush High School history!

During his Superintendent’s Report, Dr. Dominick A. Kaple presented the district’s new 2027–2029 Strategic Plan, outlining the vision and goals that will guide SEL Schools over the next three years. The plan focuses on Academic Excellence; Life Skills & Career Readiness; Early Childhood; Culture, Engagement & Behavior; Technology & Digital Literacy; and Wellness, Mental Health & Eliminating Barriers.

So much to celebrate—and so much to look forward to as we begin another exciting school year!

WELCOME BACK, SEL!

Today, we officially kicked off the 2026–2027 school year with our annual Superintendent’s Convocation at Charles F. Brush High School!

Dr. Dominick A. Kaple welcomed our staff back and shared his vision for the year ahead—challenging us to lead with clarity and resilience as we work together to support our students and one another.

There was an incredible energy in the room as our SEL family came together to reconnect, celebrate the start of a new year, and look ahead to all that 2026–2027 will bring.

This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate 100 Years of Charles F. Brush High School and the generations of students, staff and families who have been part of its incredible history. 💛🤎

Sunview Kindergarten Play Date!

What a great way to kick off the new school year!

Our Sunview Elementary Class of 2039 kindergarten families are enjoying a fun morning at Lyndhurst Park, meeting new friends, connecting with other families, and getting excited for the year ahead!

A big THANK YOU to the Sunview PTA for hosting today’s Kindergarten Play Date and creating such a warm welcome for our newest Sunview students and families!

We can’t wait to see these smiling faces at school soon!

WELCOME TO SEL!

On Wednesday evening, our elementary schools welcomed some of the newest members of the SEL family during New Family & Kindergarten Orientation!

Families at Sunview, Rowland, and Adrian Elementary Schools had the opportunity to visit their schools, meet staff, learn more about the year ahead, and help our newest students feel excited and ready for their first day!

We loved seeing so many smiling faces and welcoming our new students and families to the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools community. We can’t wait for an amazing 2026-2027 school year!

Welcome to SEL!

Yesterday, we were excited to welcome our newest educators to the South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools family during our 2026 New Teacher Orientation!

The day began with a welcome from Superintendent Dr. Dominick A. Kaple and Assistant Superintendent, Ms. Melissa Thompson and continued with opportunities for our new staff members to connect, learn and prepare for a successful start to the school year.

Throughout the day, our newest team members learned about district technology and resources, safety and security, and the many supports available to them throughout the year. They also heard firsthand from staff members who recently completed their first year at SEL and shared their experiences and advice.

We are thrilled to have these talented educators joining our schools and can't wait to see the positive impact they will make for our students!

Building Strong Community Connections 🤝

The City of Lyndhurst, Ohio , Mayor Patrick A. Ward recently welcomed the newest members of the Sunview Elementary leadership team, Principal Matthew Dziak and Assistant Principal Michael Freilino.

We appreciate Mayor Ward taking the time to meet with our school leaders and look forward to the continued partnership between the City of Lyndhurst and the South Euclid-Lyndhurst City School District. Together, we are committed to supporting our students, families, and community while making the 2026–2027 school year a successful one.

Last night, South Euclid-Lyndhurst City Schools was proud to join our communities in celebrating National Night Out in both the City of South Euclid and The City of Lyndhurst, Ohio.

Thank you to the South Euclid and Lyndhurst Police Departments and Fire Departments, Mayor Georgine Welo, Mayor Patrick Ward, city officials, first responders, community organizations, volunteers, and everyone who came out to make these events such a success.

National Night Out is a wonderful reminder of the power of strong partnerships between our schools, families, first responders, and local communities. Together, we are building safer neighborhoods and stronger connections for our students and families.

We enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces and appreciate the opportunity to celebrate our amazing communities with you!
