Lynden Christian Schools - Alumni

In 1911 this bell was installed at Lynden Christian School on East Grover Street where it rang until the 1960s. The bell was then placed in a wishing-well structure at the current high school campus by the Class of 1973 and continued there for nearly 50 years. This school year, student Mikah Hernes reconditioned the bell and mounted it on the current bell tower that he designed and built for his senior project. Tuesday morning Mikah and Supt. Paul Bootsma rang the bell for the first time in its new location in the bus loop. Special thanks to the Class of '73, LC staff, and volunteers for supporting this project. May the sound of this bell remind us to give praise to God for His continued blessings on Lynden Christian School and a legacy of instruction based on His word, linking head and heart, home and school, child and God.

Congratulations to Ranger Harlan Kredit on his 50th summer in Yellowstone! His deep knowledge of Yellowstone’s history and resources have helped him become one of the most effective rangers in the park’s history. Harlan is known as a consummate professional and someone who sets the highest standards of public service.

Harlan has distilled the art of interpretation to a relatively simple principle, if your passion for the park leads you to ever greater breadths and depths of knowledge, your passion and love will be evident to all you encounter. Harlan’s commitment to service and authenticity cannot be manufactured, which makes him a ranger respected by all generations of our time.

We are honored and privileged to celebrate Harlan’s 50 seasons of service to Yellowstone. Harlan is an exceptional ranger and has had immeasurable positive impacts on the park’s resource stewardship, education, and visitor engagement efforts.
