Congratulations to Xander Dirom ’21 on completing an extraordinary bicycle journey across the United States.
From April 25 to June 20, Xander crossed 14 states and covered 4,226 miles, overcoming seven flat tires and three broken shifter cables along the way. His longest day in the saddle? 142 miles. What an incredible achievement. Way to go, Xander!

VES announces the 2026-27 Counselor Body — a group of student leaders who have demonstrated character, dependability, and potential for leadership in the school community.
The VES Counselor Body is voted on by students and faculty with the final appointment made by the Head of School. Counselors are asked to carry out certain duties throughout the school year, serving on duty teams, leading their peers, and promoting the best interests of the school and student body. This group of student leaders serves as a vital link in communication and understanding between the students, faculty, and administration.

VES announces the 2026-27 Honor Committee.
The Committee is composed of members of the incoming senior class who are elected by student vote. Each member must possess integrity and sound judgment in decision-making. They are charged with the responsibility of providing orientation to the Honor Code, as well as investigating and determining the guilt or innocence of any violator of the Code.

VES announces the 2026-27 Student Council — composed of council members from each grade level who are selected by student vote.
Student Council representatives are responsible for leading their classes, enhancing student life at VES, and providing students with opportunities to develop leadership through service, spirit, and school events.

VES announces the 2026-27 Resident Assistants.
This group—selected by faculty vote—is an important component of our Residential Life program, assisting dorm parents with duty on all VES dorms. Resident Assistants also plan and host occasional weekend events on campus for all students.

Kenan Walker from Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, will serve as Head Counselor, Charlotte Hellewell from Lynchburg, Virginia, will serve as Honor Committee Chair, and Vera Pennington from Lynchburg, Virginia, will serve as Student Council President.
