The VSLA Piedmont Area Chapter needs YOU! Over the years, some of our board members have retired, dedicated many years to supporting our organization, or have moved on to other board positions. We are needing the involvement of folks passionate about literacy instruction to jump in and take on a role within our board. No matter the level of involvement you'd like, we need you!! You do not need to be a reading specialist for these positions. What we need is enthusiasm and people who love books, love professional development, love helping others, and most of all, love spreading the love of literacy to others. Please, email us at [email protected] OR send a message through messenger. We only ask that you live within one of the districts we serve.

Oh what a privilege it was honoring this year’s finalists at our annual Young Writers Ceremony! We were all (students, parents, teachers and administrators) inspired by the message shared by Joshua Clemons, author of Clemons Van Forer’s Freedom. Additionally, several of our student authors shared their works as well. We are so proud of each and every one. Just look at all of these proud medalists and speakers! Fantastic work!! Thanks to our participating districts and private school participants, teachers, and families. With Virginia State Literacy Association
