Know Thy God (2020)

Huge announcement:

Rekindling is rolling out its next, and biggest, study:

KNOW THY GOD

This has been years in the making, including a 13-month, intense research process with a team of 11 people, compiling 200+ pages of documents, definitions, Scripture references, analogies, questions, and more.

We are rolling out a test version of this study in February (here in Lynchburg). It will run 40 weeks through November, with homework, introspection, discussion, and application. The goal is to see how the study works in practice, and get feedback from the initial attendees, making adjustments as necessary. This will allow us to roll out the 'official' version, with print material, and Season 04 of the podcast, next year!

If you want to be a part of this, let us know!

Here's a link to the specifics, along with a way to sign up: https://gcclynchburg.churchcenter.com/groups/discipleship-communities/know-thy-god-2020

Rekindling Podcast

We just crossed 4,000 total downloads all-time for the podcast!! (And it's coming to Spotify & Itunes very soon!)

If you haven't checked us out in a while:

Season 01's ten episodes (full and snap-shot versions) are on various lenses/paradigms for living a healthy & wise life (such as 7-Stage Journey, Be-Do-Have, Spectrum, and Eternal-Internal-External).

Season 02's ten episodes walk you through the Know Thyself process, figuring out how you are wired so you can know what God's expectations/purpose is for you in this life.

Season 03 includes 36 total episodes unpacking a variety of different biblical concepts (such as love, anger, suffering, evil/sin, patience, and Heaven) - looking at the original Hebrew, Aramaic, & Greek wording, going contextually through every passage that touches on that topic, and concluding what the Bible means when it uses that term and what the implications & encouragement are for us today.

And then we have handful of odds & ends episodes, such as the Fireside Chats, where a group of people get together and talk casually about various theological, philosophical, and biblical topics.

So if you are looking for a new podcast to follow, or want to learn more about a specific topic mentioned above, give us a listen!

If you've never done one of these, they are intense six-week studies of various biblical topics that look at the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek wording and every passage in the Bible that touches on that topic, to be able to answer four key questions: how does the Bible define this topic, what are some of the key details and nuances to it, what are the benefits of pursuing it, and what practical change in my life can I make to embrace it more?

These are heavy, enlightening, and rewarding studies. Please consider joining and trying one of these out.

And please spread the word!!

Ep03.04: Unpacking Series - Heaven

Last push to 3200/100 for 2018! (We are at 3,107 downloads and 90 subscribers as of this morning. Can we get 10 new subscribers and 93 downloads today?!)

In light of that, here might be my favorite podcast episode we've ever recorded - the one on Heaven! In just under 3 hours, we unpack:
- why it's good to think about Heaven,
- the complex nuances of Heaven and life after death,
- details of what the Eternal Kingdom will be like (that we know from Scripture), plus other potential cool things (based on what we know of God),
- a couple of interesting details about Hell,
- the way you can get to the Eternal Kingdom,
- and final implications and applications for us practically & daily.

Please, please take some time today (or tomorrow, the first day of 2019), to listen to this episode and be more informed and much more encouraged about what awaits us if we persevere with trust in King Jesus.

And please share this post, pass it on, for others to have the opportunity to hear it.

Update on 3200/100:

We are now at 3,101 downloads and 89 subscribers; getting so close. : )

Next up on the recommended list: HOPE - Holding Onto Positive Expectations. I have found that hope is something very powerful that we Christians don't emphasize nearly as much as we could. When we begin to understand the good/beneficial promises that God has made and is delivering on, it changes the tone in the air.

Could you or someone you know use more hope? Give the episode a listen.

Ep03.07: Unpacking Series - Love

Update on 3200/100:

We are at 3,094 downloads and 89 subscribers. Next up on our recommended list of episodes: the biggest of them all - Love!

The more you understand the depth and breadth of what biblical love is - affection of the heart, commitment from the soul, healthy disposition of the mind, and active contribution toward well-being with all strength - the more you'll be blown away when you hear that God loves you.

And the more it will change the way you treat others that you say you love. Love can truly change things, so please consider giving this episode a listen.

And as always, please share this post, as it may help others who are at a crossroads in their relationship with God, themselves, or others.
