Archaeologists just handed us another fascinating glimpse into the early Christian history of the Bible! Excavators found a paper-thin sheet of gold inside a copper-cased amulet from the 4th or 5th century A.D. in central Turkey. This little, gold roll (likely worn by a child) appears to have an inscription of a Bible passage. Tests are still underway to reveal the exact verses hidden inside. This rare find in Türkmen Karahöyük offers a unique look at how early Christians in the Roman Empire tried to anchor their lives in God's Word.

For believers studying Biblical archaeology and apologetics, we can place this discovery alongside important finds like the Ketef Hinnom Silver Scrolls (ancient amulets with the oldest Bible scripts). The 7th-century B.C. Ketef Hinnom scrolls represent one of the most critical Old Testament discoveries in history. It contains the Priestly Blessing from Numbers 6. And it proves the ancient, accurate preservation of Hebrew Scripture centuries long before the Greek Septuagint (LXX) and the Dead Sea Scrolls. While the new find in Turkey is not the oldest Bible verse found, it is still an important witness to the longevity and importance of the Bible. It offers a real, personal snapshot of early Christian life during the final years of the Roman Empire.

Ultimately, both discoveries point to the enduring power of God's Word. Monumental finds like Ketef Hinnom demonstrate the historical reliability and divine preservation of the Bible throughout the ages. Meanwhile, personal artifacts like this 1,500-year-old gold amulet remind us that across every century and culture, everyday Christian believers have held on to the promises of the Scriptures.

So let me get this right...the Quran is not perfectly preserved (which it is not, since it's as a false cult). But somehow Christians should still trust the later so-called "authentic" (Sahih) Hadith to prove the Quran is corrupted by: 1) removing a teaching on suckling; and 2) a long-lost Surah chapter? That's illogical and unwise. Trusting Islamic Hadith (or even modern dawahs on science claims) is even worse than seriously considering the Quran's claims. No Christian (or Calvinist) should use this line of argumentation. Don't give more credence to the untrustworthy Hadith and deceptive dawahs over the earlier unholy Quran.
