Mr.Hurtโs world history lesson on Mesoamerica and the Olmec culture: Students learned about Ancient Mesoamerica, a region between southern Mexico and Central America. The first group of people were the Olmecs and they learned to use agriculture and 3 of their most famous crops were: Maize(corn), Cacao(chocolate) beans . Our activity today was to watch a video
based on the life of the high priest of the city of Olmec. The students enjoyed products of the plants that were grown there: Corn( popcorn) Hershey candy(chocolate).

Today we had the pleasure of visiting Thomas Road Outpost! We enjoyed ourselves on the Zip line, the Giant Swing, stacking crates, and the race at the end of the trip was so much fun. It was great seeing the kids be kids.

Today we had the chance to celebrate two women who have been influential in the lives of so many at Fort Hill Community School.
Ms. Ware is heading off into retirement after a long career in human services, with the last 20 being at Fort Hill and its alternative education predecessors. She has been an encouragement and support to numerous staff and students through the years, and her positive spirit, thoughtful attitude, and contagious laugh will be missed. We wish her peace and health in retirement!
Mrs. Mahaffey, our Coordinator, is leaving to enter a new career field after several years in education, with six of those being at Fort Hill. Her warmth and humor will be missed by students and staff, along with her love and hope for the school as a whole. We wish her success in her new endeavor.
