SCROOGE!: THE MUSICAL is looking to cast local young people for this fall’s Tower Theater production. Rehearsals will begin in late September and will take place on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays [tech week will include a Wednesday dress rehearsal]. Performances will run four weekends, starting November 13th and ending on December 13th. There will be no performances Thanksgiving weekend. The production will double cast many of the children’s roles to help alleviate the intense schedule. For example, there will be two Cratchit families so that performances can be split between the two groups.

The upcoming auditions will be group auditions and children do not need to prepare anything. There will be three (3), 1-hour group sessions where the children will learn a brief musical selection from the show and read from the script. If there are multiple children from the same family wishing to audition, we will do our best to place all children in the same audition group. Potential callbacks will take place on Saturday, August 22nd.

We have been having an awesome time during our Uncut Series camp this week! Our Dance Uncut campers have been working with professional choreographer Kevin Jenkins and Professor Siebert on technique and ensemble work. Our Theatre Uncut campers have been working with Professor Geffken on stage combat in musical theatre, as well as working with Dr. Hahn and Professor Nirva Ready on how to use their voice for the stage. Our Film Uncut campers have been working non-stop on their films. Taking script writing masterclasses and immediately writing, producing, and editing their own films.

We have had a busy 2 weeks over here in the LU Theatre Department! We started off camps with a 100 elementary students joining us for ARTISOCATS KIDS. These kids joined us on a Monday morning having learned no music, lines, or choreography, and were performing a full show in front of an audience by Friday evening. Kids are incredible!

The following week, 100 middle schoolers joined us for Uncut Jr.! At Uncut Jr., students can pick one of three specializations, including Theatre, Dance, or Film. Each specialization has masterclasses throughout the week where they learn from professionals or our very own students. By the end of the week, a full musical, choreographed numbers, and complete films are produced and presented to audiences.
