Blue Ridge Montessori is Lynchburg's premier Nonprofit Montessori School. Founded in 1985.

Blue Ridge Montessori offers children a beautiful learning environment prepared in accordance with the Montessori principles of education. Our community of multi-aged children (6 weeks - 6th grade) engages in meaningful work with specially designed Montessori materials under the guidance of certified Montessori teachers. Through this process children gain a sense of purpose, independence and deep satisfaction.

Today we’re celebrating the wonderful Ms. Jordan, Assistant Guide in Blue Spruce! 💙

If you’ve ever heard Ms. Jordan tell a story, you already know—she is THE BEST storyteller. 📚✨ She has a way of completely captivating a room and making every story feel like an adventure. But even more special than her storytelling is the incredible kindness and patience she brings to her classroom each and every day.

Ms. Jordan has a gentle, loving way of meeting children exactly where they are, and it’s no surprise that her students absolutely adore her. She makes them feel heard, valued, and cared for—and really, how could you not love Ms. Jordan?! 💛

As our older infants explore familiar clothing, they’re doing much more than playing. They’re building connections to everyday Practical Life experiences while their Guides introduce words like “shirt,” “shorts,” and “sleeves,” supporting growing vocabulary and language comprehension.

Simple, familiar, purposeful—that’s Montessori learning at work. 🌿💛

Our Primary students love opportunities to explore big ideas through hands-on discovery. By experimenting with primary colors while changing the colored lenses in his goggles, this young learner is observing how colors interact, making predictions, and discovering cause and effect—all through playful, purposeful exploration.

A paintbrush, a blank canvas, and a child completely absorbed in the moment. 🎨✨

When children are given the time and freedom to create, they’re doing so much more than making art. Painting strengthens fine motor skills, encourages self-expression, builds concentration, and gives children the confidence to explore their own ideas without fear of making mistakes.

In Montessori, the process is always more important than the product—and moments like these remind us just how powerful purposeful creativity can be. 💚
