We are proud to recognize our LCS CTE students who were acknowledged as Virginia state SkillsUSA champions during the Brick Dedication Ceremony on May 21!
These outstanding students have demonstrated exceptional skill, leadership, and dedication in our Criminal Justice program.
Next, they will represent our community at the National SkillsUSA Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta for a week of national competition, leadership development, and career preparation.

Great teacher, great student, great CTE program!
Mr. Bill Carter teaches Cybersecurity at Heritage High School . He was honored with an invitation to the 22nd Annual Senior Honors Dinner by Joey Martin. The two are shown here after the school board meeting at which Joey was awarded the LCS Computer Science Scholarship,
Mr. Carter says, "Teaching fully engages my skills, talents, and strengths in a meaningful way, while allowing me to continuously grow through my experiences with students. Lynchburg City Schools has provided support from every direction, along with the creative freedom to become the best teacher I can be. It was truly an honor to be recognized by my inspiring student — he says that I inspired him, but the truth is that the inspiration has gone both ways more than he could ever know."

We are so proud of our incredible students who represented E.C. Glass High School at the FCCLA Leadership Conference in Virginia Beach over Spring Break! Their hard work, creativity, and dedication truly paid off, and they showcased the very best of what Career and Technical Education is all about.
👏 Competition Results:
Jasmine Ford – Gold, perfect score, and 1st Place in Fashion Construction- Washington DC bound for Nationals!!!!
Eliza Rhodes – Silver and 2nd Place in Teaching Strategies
Lila Porterfield & Jane Gowen – Silver and 3rd Place in Interior Design
Tatum Gillette – Bronze in Baking & Pastries (seriously—ask him about everything he had to prepare in just 2 hours…this is a tough competition!)
A huge THANK YOU to our Culinary Arts teacher, Mrs. Lisa Hughes for her dedication to our program and students!
FCCLA, as a Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), gives students opportunities that go far beyond the classroom. These experiences help students build leadership skills, gain real-world career knowledge, and develop confidence through hands-on learning and competition.
Through FCCLA, students learn how to set goals, manage time under pressure, and present their talents at a professional level—skills that will benefit them in any career path they choose. We are proud to see our students stepping up, challenging themselves, and representing our school with excellence!
Congratulations, All!
