Today, we’re celebrating the power of literacy—and the incredible impact that books can have on a child’s life.

As we continue our month-long celebration of Dolly Parton and her legacy of putting books into the hands of children, this week’s theme is LEARN MORE. 💗

So today, we’re sharing a few facts about Lynchburg Imagination Library and the families we’re proud to serve right here in our community.

📚 Pick up a book. Find a cozy spot. Read together. Whether it’s a favorite you’ve read a hundred times or a brand-new story, take a few minutes today to experience the simple joy of reading with a child. Because sometimes, something as simple as “Once upon a time…” can open the door to a lifetime of learning. 💗

A Clarification from the Lynchburg City Schools Education Foundation -

We have received several questions about whether the Lynchburg City Schools Education Foundation and the Lynchburg Education Association are the same organization. They are not.

The LCS Education Foundation is a separate, nonpartisan 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our work remains focused on supporting Lynchburg City Schools students and educators through educational funding, resources, and community partnerships. Throughout National Literacy Month, the Lynchburg Imagination Library is turning those beautiful words into four weeks of action—and we’re inviting all of Lynchburg to join us.

Here’s our challenge to you: Don’t just follow along. Take part. Share a book with a child. Encourage someone to discover their gifts. Perform an act of kindness. Dream bigger for every child in our community.

We begin September 8 with LEARN MORE. Watch this page, share our posts, and help us spread a little more Dolly throughout Lynchburg.

❤September is National Literacy Month — and this year, it means even more to us.

With the recent passing of Dolly Parton, our hearts are heavy — but so full of gratitude for the incredible legacy she leaves behind. Dolly's love for children, books, and the power of reading changed lives all over the world, including right here in Lynchburg through her Imagination Library.

So this month, we're asking ourselves: What Would Dolly Do?

All September long, we'll be honoring her legacy of love and literacy in ways big and small. Stay tuned to see how we'll be celebrating Dolly and keeping her spirit alive throughout the month — we can't wait to share it with you. 📚✨

Delta Star, Inc. 's Michelle McCartney and Nathan Molicki recently came to see our Tools4Schools Warehouse. They returned last week with an SUV full of school supplies from an in-house supply drive on behalf our Lynchburg City Schools students and teachers! We're grateful for the supplies and for their generous check to help us stock up in the months to come.

Thanks CJMW Architecture in-house school supply drive on behalf of our LCS students and teachers. Palmer Ferguson delivered this trunk load of supplies earlier this month, and they were on our shelves as teachers shopped for FREE school supplies in advance of the start of the school year.

Ed Foundation Matt Schewel offered Schewels Home as a drop off location for our community-wide supply drive this month. The supplies collected in the store were taken to our Tools4Schools Warehouse where they are now available to our LCS teachers for their classrooms and students. Thank you!

Retired Lynchburg City Schools teacher and current Tools4Schools volunteer, Patricia Adams, along with her family, added to the school supply donation basket hosted by First Presbyterian Church. We are grateful for a 2nd shopping cartful of supplies!
